Engine Problems
Engine Problems
Hello,
First of all: Sorry for my bad English, i hope you can read the my Post!
I have a big problem with my new Engine for my RX-7. I hope someone can help me, because here in Austria nobody knows about RX-7 Engine Problems.
I have a new Street Port Engine with the Extreme Fuel System from rx7store.net (850cc primary injectors and 1600cc secondary injectors). I have still the twin turbos - not a single turbo. I have buy a lot of mods for the car (Power FC, FMIC, Boostcontroller and so on...)
On this Monday the car is starting the first time since months. Today, after 2 Days, the car is not starting! When i will start the car, the engine is inject to much fuel into the spark plugs (the car is flooded). And we can clean the spark plugs! Everywhere it smell of fuel.
My Question is: Is my fuel system (850cc/1600cc) to much for the original twin turbo's (with a street port engine), have i make a mistake to built this fuel system in my car?! Is the original fuel combo (550cc/850cc) enough?!
I hope someone help me!!!
Thanks!!!

welcome to the board.
i'm not a Gen III expert, but it would seem like you went a little overboard on the fuel injectors. for the stock turbos, even with a streetport i suspect you could run much better with a lot less.

well, it really all depends on what your ulitmate plans are. are you likely to switch to single setup in the near future and go for big power? if so, how much power would you be trying to make?
The stock injectors are good to about 12psi on the stock turbos. Maybe 13 or 14 if they're flowing well and your duty cycles are reasonable.
Stock turbos can be pushed up to 15psi or so, in which case you would need the extra fuel.
I'm not sure from experience if your setup is overkill or not. It's more than enough fuel. Is your PowerFC set up correctly? Have the injectors been verified to have proper spray pattern and flow rate? Was this setup working well for you before letting the car sit?

I have a Power FC, but i haven't a Power FC Setup. Because the car is never running, so i can't make a Setup.
Today i have rebuilt the 550cc/850cc Injectors. Tomorrow i will finished. Hope the car starts...

On Monday it was the first time the car is starting, after i built in the new engine, new Power FC, new Fuel System and so on.
But the Problem is not the Power FC, the Problem is the Fuel System I thing. This (850cc/1600cc) was to big for normaly RX-7 with Street Port.

Yesterday i have built the car to original. Only the streetport engine and the greddy fmic are not original. The primary rail and the secondary rail (550cc and 850cc) is original. The Power FC is gone and the original control unit is in the car.
And the car is......not starting!!!! ****
The car will start, but it looks like the car is not becoming enough fuel. But we have controlled the fuel hoses to the engine. There comes fuel from the hoses.
Can be the engine harness the problem?! Because the engine harness is very old, its the orginal harness?! I don't no whats the next step is to controll?!?!?

Bad engine harnesses can definitely cause problems. If there is a short or bad signal from one of the fuel or water temp sensors the car will run rich constantly. See if you can get any codes from the PFC or stock ECU. On the PFC you can also run through the temperature readings for unusual values.

85o and 1600cc injector are fine. But you can not run those injectors with a stock computer. You need to tune the ecu for larger injectors. I would recomend installing a apex power fc. Very easy to install and a lot of people have base maps for it.
