EGI Fuse Bigger? Also Pop-Up Function?

So I just picked up my 87 Turbo II about a week ago, and I've been generally cleaning things up here and there. I noticed in my under-hood fuse box that the EGI fuse should be a 30A and in mine there is a 50A. Should I change it out to a 30A? I've always heard its bad to install a bigger fuse. The car isn't stock by the way, rebuilt motor, emissions deletes, rtek ecu etc. Just figured I'd check.

Also can't get my headlights to function. The light itself comes on but they wont go up or down. RETRACTOR fuse seems okay, anything else I can check?

Thanks guys!

the fuse should be whatever the amperage is stated in the Circuit.(so if it is 30 put in a 30.)
Putting in a higher amperage fuse takes the Protection of the circuit away and basically makes the circuit vulnerable to burning up.
Retractor fuse runs the headlight motors.Check the connections to your motors and see of they are intact.(good place to start)...That and a solidly connected Correct fuse at the fuse block.

There's a small **** near the headlight switch that allows one to pop up the headlights so they can be cleaned etc. Does this function properly?

The Red/Yellow and Red/Blue wires at the retractor motor causes the lights to pop up or stay down. One of the two wires should have voltage to them when down and when you flip the switch to pop the lights upward then the other wire should have voltage and the wire previously having voltage should then not have voltage. Which wire has and doesn't have voltage is controlled by the switch relay. The relay is powered by the Head fuse via the Red wire at the switch. The Black wire at the switch provides the ground for the relay. Each retractor motor has a Black ground wire as well and the White/Green wire at each motor receives power from the retractor fuse.

Thanks for all the info guys! Loving this site already.

I'm going to go buy a kit of fuses today and run through checking/replacing any that are the wrong size or blown.

Also, the **** for my headlights doesn't work either so I'll check all the connections you mentioned.

Thanks!

Okay, so turns out my headlights and turn signals upfront were just unplugged for whatever reason. I plugged them all in, the turn signals work, and the passenger side headlight pops up and goes down fine. The driverside one doesn't move, I can hear a click noise and the motor under the light gets hot. Does this mean anything? I currently have it manually adjusted all the way open if that matters here.

Make sure the connections are clean and no dirt/rust are involved. Make sure the problematic headlight can easily go up or down and is not binding against anything. Check the Black ground to the headlight motor and remove an reclean it. If none of these things are the cause of the issue then perhaps the motor is in need of replacement.
