Current Project ~ Basic questions
So here is my current RX-7. The outside is nice and pretty still.
http://i1263.photobucket.com/albums/...n/P1060363.jpg Interior is in nice shape, Most the leather is nice, although the drives side is a bit worse the this side. And yes, that is my steering wheel in the grass... I've been working on the car all day, and some things are pulled apart. http://i1263.photobucket.com/albums/...n/P1060365.jpg Things are a bit of a mess under the hood. Missing belts, AC doesn't work and I haven't bothered to attempt to fix yet, summers just aren't that hot up here. Coolant level sensor is replaced with a bolt, it stopped the leak temporarily. I had hoped to find a legit replacement at a local Upull, but have had little luck. My local store can't seem to find a replacement, so the bolt has stayed longer then expected. Any advice as to where to get a replacement? I have found some online, but the places seem sketchy, or are asking for $80+ for the sensor. Occasionally the car realizes the sensor isn't there and complains. An idea how I can ground sensor wire to store the occasional alarm? I am hesitant to try grounding/applying voltage, and I can't make heads or tails of the wiring diagram. http://i1263.photobucket.com/albums/...n/P1060364.jpg |
coolant temp senders are common enough you will find one given some time. it's suppose to ground through the cooling system... I'm not sure the voltage.
Looks like a clean car and doesn't look like the GSL-SE engine bay I saw at the junkyard... Where's the steering wheel? |
steering wheel in grass.
it's a Moo-Moo wheel!..(groan!) ....... you can just ground the sender wire for now if you are getting an alarm. It won't hurt anything.Take the harness wire and touch the body of the car..done. |

Anyhow, I was planning on only post this question in the first gen forums, but I guess here will work as well (hopefully) Long story short, my dash lights weren't working for a while, it bugged me so I took the dash off, found the board that dimmer was located on was fried and I re-soldered a bridge into place. Lights work. Sadly I have put it all back together and now my headlights are not going up or turning on.
When I turn the headlight switch (stalk) with the door open my warning goes off, so I think the stalk is fine. Fuses are all good, so are the fusible links on the drivers side. The other switch I dissembled and it seems to be in good mechanical order, no burns or shorts or anything. The switch gets ~12v when the stalk is turned to give the headlights power. I have been able to manually trigger the motors, they are not jammed/broken. I cannot get high or low beams to turn on at all. Is there anything else I can check to try to get these things back and running? |
Humh. Wish I could change the title to reflect may latest questions. w/e perhaps a new thread will be in order once I hit 20 posts.
