cold start stall

hey guys, just got a second fb rx7 (82) got for pretty much nothing it was in hurting condition carb was junk cat clogged and missing many interior and body was faded and several dings through out just finished all body work and most of the interior, i swapped out carb from my 81 that was not running (no compression) and a after market exhaust car now runs perfect hot but when cold wants to stall, when the old carb was on the car it would start perfect idle up and then choke would pull back in then stall.the carb from the 81 choke has to be pushed back in and wont run right until hot what on the carb causes this situation to happen?

cold stall until warmed up

hi everybody i currently have 2 rx7s an 81 and 82 currently using the 81 as parts car for the 82. i got 82 and the carb was in bad shape but it would idle great untill it warmed up then it would stall so i pulled the carb from the 81 and put it onto the 82 car wont idle on its own now cold the choke has to be pushed in manually once warmed up it works perfect idles great rev response is spot on jus wont idle and stalls when cold what on the carb would cause this issue during warm up? i have an old haynes manual and it says to check the anti-afterburn valve? im not great with carbs more of fuel injected guy, does this sound like the issue i might be having?

The carburetor is the problem if it sat for more than 2 years with gas in it, especially any ethanol-blend gas in it. Time for a rebuild. As you go about replacing and cleaning things, you're also going to fix a host of smaller problems that would've popped up later making you think you did the rebuild wrong when you couldn't tune it.

thanks mars3 i got the carb running mint now the bimetal spring on the side of the carb was broken, the linkage was a little tight, and the accelerator pump was leaking little bit. some pb blaster and bimetal spring from other carb and new gasket for the acclerator pump cover and now running perfect. while fixing that i noticed a leak in radiator swaped it out from the other car shes almost ready to go on the road need to remove windshield from other car,a windshield wiper motor, paint, horn and dash not bad spending 200$ on the car and fixing it so far!
