Boosting issues 14-7-14 PSI
 

Hi all,

I'm new to the group so I hope I put my problem across correctly. My car is a 1993 RX7 JDM import.

1) when driving my car I'm seeing 14psi boost up to 4000RPM
2) 4000-5000RPM 7psi and a strange sound coming from the exhaust like a fuel cut of some sort
3) 5000+RPM 14psi until red line.

I have gone through a boost/ turbo troubleshoot guide and I noticed that when revving the engine when stationary the precontrol actuator doesn't move when I'm sure the guide says 'look for movement'.

This sounds like the Charge Control Valve and Charge Relief Valve are staying open when they shouldn't. Has the car been serviced recently? It sounds like you are due for a vacuum hose job as stock boost is 10-8-10psi. Also, a dying solenoid on either of them would produce funky behavior too. Do note that if the solenoid isn't perfect and I mean abso-friggin-lutely, it is bad and needs to be replaced.

follow the troubleshooting guide, just replace it. Thats your best bet.

Also, the stock solenoids operate at full boost pressure in the stock system and the solenoids do not like this at high boost and start to get "sticky" in their operation.

You can put a pressure regulator on the solenoid rack so they only see the 10psi boost they were designed to operate under.

are you running a straight threw mid pipe?
