How much does it normally cost to make a switch like that?

Depends on how much of a deal you're getting for parts. Used and inexpensive or new everthing for a hit in the wallet. price for the following:
pedals (have) master cylinder slave cylinder hard line from master cylinder hard line from slave cylinder flexible line in-between clutch w/ clutch disk pressure plate (I'd use a new throwout bearing, pilot bearing bushing and seal, etc) shifter w/ shifter console and boot transmission (manual) with powerplant frame (PPF) driveshaft (w/ tail shaft seal - optional) 4.1 rear end If you're going to be running an Apexi Power FC engine management system, you can use the automatic harness. If not, you'll have to get the manual harness, and that connect to the manual dash harness. I personally went with the auto harness, got an engine from djseven with a mild port I think, and deleted a few select items. With the auto harness, there will be no pin pulling/cutting of the original harness. Good luck, gather all the parts and then attempt the swap. Figure about $2500. That way, you give yourself some leeway. I know some people that have done it for free. If you're not one of those that has access to a free parts car, figure between $0-$2.5k |
i have an '89 (which may not even work for you) with the manual trans that i am in the process of removing in favor of a 5.7 with an auto trans,
what i'm getting at is that if there is anything on my car you need (if an 89's parts will fit, transmission included) just let me know |
