Question 94 Left headlight will not open/close from switch.

Hi Guys,

I have a peculiar problem with my FD (JP imported). My left side headlight will not open or close if I use the headlight button or the headlight switch on the steering wheel.

Some notes which may help diagnosis:
  • Both headlights are switching on and off from the steering wheel.
  • The right side headlight is opening and closing from the steering wheel and headlight button.
  • When I use the manual retractor inside the engine bay, I can feel the **** catching the motor then it will open/close automatically.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Cheers.

check relays and faulty/worn connections and wires. simple tracing the route and if you can't find an issue with a relay or wiring id look for a headlight motor. if you need one theres tons floating around on here

Thanks mate, have checked those I think what I might do next is switch the motor from the other headlight to see if it works and see if the 'broken' motor works on the other side.

Hey Mate, haven't had a chance to give it some time.

Though I did notice the headlight has started to retract after some time. E.g. Switch light on/off -> Right headlight retracts immediately -> after a few minutes the left headlight will retract.

My uneducated guess would say it might need some lubrication, as when I give it a little budge after switching it'll move automatically.
