Where to get diff weldedin NVA?

Has anyone had their diff welded in the northern Virginia area? I have the diff out of the car just need someone to weld it up, hopefully someone who has done it before. Any testimonies?

-Thanks, Andrew

Try piper motorsports. I don't know if they've done it before but give em a shot.

Did you have yours done there? How much did they charge you? Sounds like you have not had any problems.

Hey, Brian wants $100 to weld it which isn't to steep but including the gas to get up there I'm gonna keep looking. Anyone know someone closer to Northern VA who can do it?

-Thanks, Andrew

I've done it on a couple cars. It has nothing to do with mechanics, more so being an experienced welder...

You sir are very right, but once I get the diff open I don’t know what to weld, and if I take it to a metal fab shop they probably will not either hence why im looking for a mechanics shop.

Like stated prior, you have one of the best fab shop in the States at Piper Motorsports. Doesn't get any better, period.

Thanks for the reassurance, I gave them a call and they will not take the diff apart but If I bring it to them disassembled and cleaned they said they would weld it up. Given my options I think that’s what im going to do.

Try Kearney's Automotive/Racing, 301-322-3240. They race some Mazdas and also do restoration as well as general automotive work.

Ditto that about the outside parking. General area sucks, but their street is all industrial. Don't think they park cars outside overnite. I've had lots of work done there, and never been asked to pay first... maybe because new customer and look too young to have bucks to pay? They gotta cover their butt too. They rebuilt my last rotary 15 yrs ago, still runs great. Last month had a lower shock mount break on Jeep that was 'fixed' by someone else a few months ago. They rewelded it and put on a brace, Looks like its gonna hold this time.

It’s a spare diff im having welded so the car isn’t gonna be there overnight, thanks for the tip though. Thanks for the testimony as well. I wasn’t expecting to have to work this week so I didn’t get it done. Ill probably have it done next week and ill let everyone know how it goes.
