NYRA Meet 2: Flushing-Meadow/Corona Park 5/10/2008 at 1:00PM
 

DATE: Sunday, May 10th, 2008

The second meet will be held in New York City at the Flushing-Meadows/Corona Park at 1:00PM.

This is a different set up than the Valley Stream Meet since there is no entrance fee. We park the cars in the parking lot adjacent to the Grand Central Parkway around the man-made lake called "Meadows-Lake". We could park in the lot and go into the park but from history we never leave the parking lot. We BBQ right there.

Lets get a list ready along with a food list. If someone would like to take the reigns on the food list that would be very helpful.

i will be bringing my grill to BBQ, but its a small ass grill so if you want to BBQ and you have a grill please bring it. 70 ppl waiting in line to use a lil 8 burger grill kinda sucks.

Its hard to organize a food list with 2 forums and different ppl. Last year ppl that said were coming with food never came and we had BURGERs and no BREAD. So i will be bringing a grill, charcoal, liter Fluid (lol). We have to sort out the rest.

The people that have been coming to meets normally come with the same people to every meet. If we organize with one another on what to bring we can have numerous grills cooking up a storm. If not we can TRY and create a master food list. If everyone participates we dont need to spend more than $10 per person (maybe even less). If you chip in to the POTLUCK then you can eat/drink and share in what the group has brought.

What do you guys think is the best approach. ??????

A. Everyone that brings something gets a wrist band and is allowed to eat/drink (POTLUCK)
B. Each group takes care of their BBQ situation.

Lets bounce some ideas, cuz im trying to curb the issues that happen in the past. People that come on the fly wind up eating more than the people that brought stuff and sometimes get shafted when they contributed.

Ok, I can make the 10th, but its a Saturday, not a Sunday as you wrote above

^^ um when i originally wrote it was set for sunday until i found out it was mothers day. I base my schedule around the racing schedule for Drag Racing/Road Racing locally. And may is my special exception since the 3rd week in may i have finals and the last weekend is limerock. So im limited to first week in May and second week in May. Since we just had the meet on April 17 at VS, May 4th is kind of early.

Im open to discussion about the date, we can do it a day earlier May 10th or do it the first weekend in may.

I'm down for Saturday the 10th. And whoever brings some burgers or something should bring buns with them also. I'll bring some burgers and buns.

How many of you would be upset by 2 kids in an FD??? My problem...these days a 3 y/o boy and a 9 y/o girl dont really fit in a 2 seater. The real problem is they both dig the FD!

I've taken them around the block once or twice and although they hate the SMELL they love it! :D its GREAT!

you're the perfect candidate for rear seats. the 9 year old will probably be too tall to fit back there next year, but i think its your situation exactly that they made that option for. no adult is gonna fit in them.

yes bring tents, i think im going to cop them too. I got some nice chairs for the laidies, with a built in tent lol. So i have 4 chairs, dont think im going to bring them all, cuz if i have the grill in the rx shits not going to fit lol.

I had an 86(first 7) w/back seats...its the price that keeps me from doing it. The kids are a safety net and I should take'em with me to keep the speeds reasonable!!!! ;)

Anyone interested in meeting up to go to this from the CT area, we will be meeting up at around 12:00pm on Saturday at the park & ride off the Merritt Parkway exit 35 High Ridge Rd. We should be leaving at around 12:15pm, its around a 35-40 minute ride.

Cool.... I'll try to make it... probably around 4pm. I'll bring bagels and butter :)

just spoke to bill at maximum autobody, not only will he be there with his sick fd show car, he wil be done with the new paintjob on my baby friday night! so im definately in

turbo is in and car is runin but if aint one thing its the next can find my titel so cant regie , but ill still be there

the weather looks good for saturday. a high of 65 degrees but partly cloudy. works for me :)

Cant wait for tomorrow got mad stuff to do in the AM, gotta hit up the bank drop off some $$$ for the FD savings acct lol, then hit up AZ to get some brake fluid, tubing, oil, filter etc and install my front brake hardlines/ brake bleeders. Then hopefully that fixes the problem and it’s not my BrakeBooster or my Brake Master Clyinder, fluid hasn’t dropped in 1 month.

I have been studying for my test and doing projects for the passed 2 weeks, tomorrow is my breather day cuz sunday I’m back at it for FINALS.

I think i bombed my test today, i freaking study 12 chapters on diff type of structures and loads, analysis of statically determinate structures (trusses, beams, frames)), internal loadings in members, cables , arches, influence lines for stat det, approximation analysis of stat indet struc, deflections, virtual work, force method for stat indet struc, slope-displacement method, moment distribution, and the last topic I couldnt finish cuz i ran out of time came up on the test. That’s not the best part, it was the ONLY QUESTION!!

So I need to chillax. Gotta charge the camera batteries, clean out the mem stick, look for the grill (still can’t find it). I found the charcoal, plates, forks, knives, spoons etc.

I will be just bringing the grill and the other stuff mentioned above, no time to go shop. Took me 3 hours and 20 minutes to get from lower Manhattan to CT.
