I know him, he lives right here by me. That car is all original and CLLLEEEEEEEAAAAANNN!!!!! His mom has an all original R100 as well, which is even MORE rare! I offered him my 2005 Toyota Tundra as a straight trade for his 3, but he wouldn't do it hahahaha. I don't think he's the kind of guy to come to an event, but I'll ask him.

If he did everyone would be all over that thing like flies on a pile o. I know I would :D

Alright guys. I am purchasing the kyoto radiator on the 21st. Now, should I buy the double pass or single pass?

Q2. As far as that stock fan? What can come off? Should I remove it?i mean i know I have to in order to switch out rads(also most fcs dont have that fan in there anyways from the pics ive seen of modded fcs). Also the air filter? Will that be in the way?

Q3. I read somewhere that you need to buy brackets in order to hold this Kyoto rad in place.

Thanks for the help in advance!

rx7onfire 09-18-12 11:29 AM

Double pass cools a little better, but they're more money. DO NOT remove the stock fan and shroud! The stock setup cools better than any electric setup, and doesn't sap up as much power as everyone thinks. You will not need any brackets as long as you are buying the correct radiator for your model.

Any plans on attending the event this weekend? My car is a rolling shell and the only thing I've managed to get done is paint the engine bay so I won't be attending. However, I will probably make the NAPA Speedway event next month in the Miata.

rotabimmer77 09-24-12 10:10 PM

Anybody knowledgeable with first gens wanna help me work on mine sometime this week? I kinda just want somebody to take a look at her and give me some insight?

vicarotor 10-02-12 08:45 PM

Alright, koyo radiator is in along with silicone hoses. However the stock intake in a tad off because of the width of the koyo. By a tad off I mean, I good deal. So..I know that a stock intake is best for the N/A but since its not fully on(screws not in place) should I just go with a new intake?

Justin1992 10-02-12 10:16 PM

Just recently purchased a full Racing Beat True Dual exhaust system privately (not new) and am waiting for it to be packaged up and shipped. I'm told I won't be disappointed :)

vicarotor 10-03-12 12:36 AM

How old? How much?

Justin1992 10-03-12 09:07 AM

2-3 years but not driven on, parked. $500.

As long as you can still draw cold air from the outside that is the only benefit of continuing to run the stock box. A nice cone filter will flow better, but it will also draw hot air from inside the engine bay. Ideally, you'd want a cone filter inside a heat-shielded box with tubing to draw air from outside the engine bay.

I run an RB True Dual exhaust. It's greatest benefit is that it is relatively quiet; however, it's almost as heavy as the stock system. If you're running cats now I'd expect a 10 to 15 HP improvement most of which will be in the upper powerband.

Justin1992 10-03-12 11:39 AM

I'm running a pacesetter header, custom race pipe and Borla catback atm. I was told that this system was the best one for an N/A FC...I can always swap out the presilencer for two sidebyside test pipes and throw my borla's back on the end, I'd basically have the same system as before except with the added flow of a single pipe/rotor...We'll see. I gotta get my new engine first.

A true-dual system is definitely going to be the best for a stock-port NA. I've run short-primary and long-primary collected systems and neither were optimal for top end flow (for a stock-port NA). You'll see the best performance across the powerband by removing the cat. After that it's a matter of finding the exhaust with flow characteristics that are tuned to the powerband range that you care about. I think you'll notice the engine pulls consistently up to redline.

Selling FD

Hey guys. Just wanted to say that I'm selling my FD. Here's a link to the thread in the classified section.

https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...2421k-1017065/

If you know anyone that's looking for a nice clean FD then maybe let them know about this one. It would be nice to see it sell locally. Thanks.
