Anyone have experience doing the "Cars and Coffee" out at Sandia speedway? Any good?

Thinking about going on Aug 4th. $50 to run from 8am-12pm seems pretty reasonable.

They are all pretty much the same events: Drivers Club, Miata racing, Cars and Coffee..etc......they are fun you run usually 15 min sessions and the different car groups rotate.....definitely a good place to tune and test you car :icon_tup:

I plan to take the FD out when i get the Apexi N1's and Bonez DP from David

How many people usually? Don't really need to T&T, just want to drive a bunch!

I hear you, you'll get more track time there than the autox (which is still fun to do ;) ) i've seen 10 to 50 cars there just depends which one you pick I personally like the driver club and swms (but you need complete the car classes for the swms one)

Crazydevil 07-24-12 11:52 PM

I used to go to cars and coffee all the time. Most of the time not too many people show up so everyone is out on the track. Twice I have gone in the morning and by 11:00 everyone left and I had the track to myself. Lots of fun then, and I had the whole track to myself. I did the short course then oval and anyway I wanted. Just talk to the people there and if your all alone you can do what you want. I would love to go again but the FD is down. Just a word of advise take a tire temp gauge and watch your front right tire. If you are going all out you may want to rotate your tire front to back. i would almost kill a tire if I didn't rotate it halfway through the day. Have fun. I'll go if you guys want to make a small rx7 meet out of it, just won't be racing.

xShiFTx 07-25-12 06:43 PM

Not 100% sure I am going, I'll let you know when I decide.

Justin1992 07-25-12 08:33 PM

It'd be amazing if we could reserve the track for a day, itd be so awesome seeing nothing but rotaries run the track!

yeah sandia is notorious for right tire wear 8 left turns and 3 rights bruta, that is why you should run hard compund tires on your right side and soft on the left for cornering advantage l! :egrin:

I can make it happen for sure. I know the owners of the track well. Once you get the date set I will ask.

I use a Momo steering wheel and a Momo shift knob.

This would definitely be nice to attend. I'm pretty sure I won't have anything put together this year though. Perhaps I'll start a local build thread to document what I'm working on.

ZipRex 07-26-12 09:36 PM

I went to Sandia in December when it was nice and clear and there was 0 other people the whole time. Best part was that it was like 45 degrees out so it was a lot easier to keep her running cool ;)

Looks good man! Glad you get her up and running :icon_tup:
The wheels could be way worse haha. If they were lower offset I honestly think they would look pretty good.
