CO Tuning Session, Steve Kan, BDC, etc.
 

I am going single turbo next month and will need a tune in march/april time frame. Gauging interest for how many fellow Colorado peeps will be needing a tune this spring so we can start planning one...

I'm down in Albuquerque, NM, and my car should be up and running by then. I may be interested in trailering it up there. Whats the elevation there in Springs? Also, do you have availability to a mustang or dynojet?

From what Mike B told me, we have access to a dynojet and the altitude is 5280...

yes, I hope we can get this going because I seriously need Steve to tune my ride. I have been dreaming he might be able to get out here. I just got a PFC and it is not tuned. I have not even put it in yet. Please LMK if this is going down.:icon_tup:

I would love to meet up with you guys and learn a bunch more. Currently i reside in Boulder and have no problem making a trip to the springs to meet a bunch of u guys.

Cool Dave, alot of the Rotary guys are actually up in the Denver area and they always hold the meets up there so it would be less of a drive for you, I think on this list I'm the only Colo Springs guy...would love to meet everyone too, I will be more active in the meets depending on the days they are held this summer...

I was planning on renting out Dynopros again but if someone has a better hook up we can entertain another dyno. I know Marc is in pretty good at Superupair but they will probably get shut down after all the loud rotarys like last time. We will probably get more serious about getting someone here once Marc is done putting the new engine in.

I think dynopro sounds good, but it's up to you guys up there in denver...As for me for planning purposes, I will be installing everything in the car feb 14th - feb 21st. I have an Annual Training Conference I believe March 21-23, but I'll get more concrete days. Hopefully the tune will be either saturday or sunday, if not I need to know well enough in advance so I can request a leave day!

I am picking up an Apexi + FC and a intake (in route to me now) I know they set up the base map for you, does it require additional tuning? I was reading a number of posts and it seemed like they did, however it could have been prior to them offering the maps at time of sale. Any info on that let me know, might be a good idea to tune after the install anyway and would be fun to meet some of the other CO owners. Cheers..Jon

To tune the Powerfc we must have a Datalogit and mine is not working. Last time the idea was for me to buy one and everyone chip in to use it for there tune and it would pay for itself after a few years. But that didn't happen. I will have to wait for me to close some loans before I buy another one.

My engines in, just taking my sweet time putting it all back together.

Take your time...I'm broke right now!

I have a dataloggit, don't mind everyone using it, if someone has the usb conversion cable...

I have an adapter that converts to usb.

For this tuning session, do you need an aftermarket ecu? because I'm getting a new turbo setup around the same time as user: MPFCC.

yes sir you will need an aftermarket ecu...

They sell them at walmart for like 20 bucks.

Most likely we will have a tuner come in early to mid March. I will keep everyone posted.

Latest update... My annual training is at Estes Park from March 16 through March 19, so please don't schedule the tune during those days...

Hey B how bout this, those that know us think! I throw the $$ to buy the new logit! You send your's in get it fixed before the next decade, and or few months to get it fixed (and I'm talking like your 125(75) dolla core on your engine mounts). Sell yours fixed, and split the deal in the end. I hold the logit, then there's no worries about you tellin "foo's" no because you don't want to hurt their feelings? Works for me...and we can tune your car? :gulp:

Denver (Jefferson County) is 5183', Springs is 6008'. And Morrision, CO. is 5766'...the track(Bandimere) is 5280 at the tree...so take it as you'd like...

Well got bad news from A-Spec tuning today, my turbo kit isn't done yet, been 3 weeks since I ordered. They said the wastegates from Tial are on back order and they don't know when they will get them in, so I've had to have my leave pushed back 2 weeks so I wont be installing the turbo, fmic, radiator and other misc parts until the first week of march (if the turbo comes in by then)... I sure hope i'll make the tune, if not I'm scewed!

At this point it looks as if we may have 2 sessions. We will for sure have a tuner come out March / April time frame. And then, as long as there is enough people to make it worth while we can bring out the same tuner or another tuner in May or June.

well i can't take that chance if there is no interest in june tune, so I should be done with my car at the latest the end of march if you can do an april tune

Works for me as long as before Bandimere opens which is mid April. I'm really mostly concerned about NHRA import drags in June!

Yes, the car will be done before April 1st, it's just the fact that Tial couldn't get the wastegates to A-Spec so that is what is holding me back from doing my car next week like originally planned!

Let me preface also by saying I hope I get my ecu upgrade by March, I ordered it a while ago and have not seen it yet, Jason from the RX-7 store said he was getting some in but still awaiting!

I'm in for early april. BTW This would be my first time with a aftermarket ecu, so what do you estimate this is going to cost each of us?

As for your ECU, good luck with that bro, I went through a nightmare with the turbo lol, had to cancel and order my new turbo from A-Spec...

$400 is roughly what BDC costed us.....but if we get Demitrious it will be a little more. Carl Maritin should be about $400 too.

Hey you get what you pay for and just as long as I get a good tune I'll pay the $$$, just as long as we aren't talking over $500, then I'll get a little worried lol

P.S.- Mike or anyone out there have a Power Steering pulley for an FD??

Well I think we, your new primary injectors, 2nd fuel pump, and 1/2" fuel line all know what I'm waiting for $$$. I got the mirrors covered though...:)
