yes it is still top dead centre,
Crip is just a number and that's it, its nothing to do with actual timing .

you pull all your plugs and connect them to your ignition leads, then set your Motec to Crip setting/check , get someone to crank it over and you watch with a timing light , and you adjust your Crip number till the timing mark is aligned with TDC . Its like you are "Zeroing" in your TDC setting .

Your motec now understands where your TDC is, as every engine has a slightly different TDC, and if you run a S4/5 CAS your Crip could be anywhere depending on where the CAS is stabbed or adjusted to originally ,

Crip is just a random number that helps locate the TDC for the Motec brand computer :) There is no off the shelf setting that suits everyone , they are all individual to suit every car

The stock mark is exactly at the leading edge on one of the tooths of the 12 tooth section of the wheel. Since it has 12 teeth, the next tooth over is exactly 30* (360/12=30). So using a sharp file I carefully widdled away a new mark at the next leading edge. Since the stock mark is 20* ATDC, another 30* puts it at 10* BTDC, so just set test advance to 10* and adjust your CRIP to match, viola!

Does anyone know if this is clock-wise or counter clock-wise when he says "...the next tooth over"?
