STL cruise to elaphanet rocks Oct 11, 09
 

Title says it all.
Will be at McDonald, im thinking start show about 10am ish and head off at 11am. With the quick map I did in google maps it is 2hr 46min. Im not indorsing any speeding or other violations but if things are the same we should beat that time. This will put us down there about 2pm. They have grills and there are other food options near by. Feel free to offer any input.

Gas up before hand or will there be any stops during the drive?

we will be driving just out side Hillsboro, De Soto, and Potosi. We can stop half way or 2/3 the way there but i would say fill up before we head out its about 77 miles each way so a full tank should get you there and back.

Sounds like a good plan, count me in!

Print off some maps and hand out to everybody before we leave out, in case somebody gets separated. Also put your cell number on the map so lost people can call to get back on track.

Let's plan on grilling at the park, sound good? I'll volunteer to bring a bag of charcoal, lighter fluid, and some grill tools. How about everybody else post of what you can bring. Burgers, brats, buns, side dishes, plates and utensils, etc. And I'd say everybody bring your own cooler.

Oh, and definitely post this up on rx8club ... or I can if you want. You could even invite Mazda 3 and Miata guys if you want.

Thats what I said when I missed the last STL cruise, here we are almost five years later...

we actually have another meet in Columbia (mizzou) this weekend that a couple of us have already said were going too, i actually considered ditching that meet for this, but i go to school at Mizzou, so the meet is right here in town, and my weekend is PACKED!! but most of us over there have been tryin to get a huge meet goin in STL tried a weekend or so ago and only got 6 rx8's out there but were making strides. But ill be going back and forth between here and rx8club trying to coordinate some things and maybe come spring we can get a HUGE meet goin.

not sure if any of you guys would be interested but i think a couple of us are going to try and make it back to the last midnight madness of the year. Its out at Gateway if any of you are unsure of what it is, its a drag, drift, and theres a small car show. You pay $25 and get to run your car a couple of times, the drifting is normally sub par, and the car show is mainly members from over on STLSR (St Louis Street Racing) but we normally find a way to have a good time. i know some of the guys over on rx8 have been tryin to get some guys together for it.

Wish i could make it out there this weekend though, a cruise sounds like a real good time, but we will have to get something goin here shortly. Someone make sure and get some pics and let me know, i've never been or heard of elaphanet rocks so im interested to see what its like.

My weekends are booked until years end. Maybe next year..

Oh come on dude, I've had the top down on my Verts when it's in the 20's before, and it's actually comfortable. All that gets cold is hands and ears, the heater in the Vert really blows. 50+ with the sun out will feel downright balmy :)

I'm going to call Alex tomorrow, see if I can get him to come out. And Gary said he might drive his FD down to the meet just to hang out a bit, but not go on the cruise.

I'll bring some apex seals...

We have the basics but any one that wants to bring other food, drink, utensils and or fun stuff feel free to, It will help is some one has something at the last min and can not show.

I'll bring my camera ... we could use some side dishes like a tub of potato salad from Schnucks. Some pre-made burger patties and buns would rock too. I can stop on the way out in the morning and grab the potato salad, so put me down for that too :)

None of the rx8 guys have said they are going.

If it looks like we will have any more good days this year we can get a section of the chuck-a-burger parking lot. I know the owners son, he said to give him 2-3 weeks advance. So after this we can do that.

Well, I was going 125ish when I saw your guys' brake lights. I dropped to about 90 when the cop saw me. He stopped me for a few minutes and told me to slow down. No written warning or ticket. YAY!!!

I had a good time, It was nice meeting everyone.

The wife and I had a good time today, I just wished that there was less traffic and cops. We will have to do another cruise sometime.

Whew! I feel much better that you didn't get a ticket, I thought he was coming after me! I got up to a buck forty and slammed on the brakes down to sixty when he passed me. Thought for sure I was got! Maybe you confused him and he meant to pull me over lol.

Did anybody else see that clean looking Black GSL-SE sitting in the front yard just a few miles away from Elephant Rocks? I almost stopped to ask about it. It had grass grown up around it, I imagine the guy would unload it cheap. It's hard to tell at 70mph, but it looks very straight.

That gsl-se might be worth me going down there looking for it.

I saw that. There was also a red 2nd gen GTU I think, down there somewhere.

I thought I saw GXL on that one ... it was right before we got on new Hwy 21. Looked pretty clean though.
