Funny thing is, damn near every town is out of the way from CR.

okay guys here is where i get to sound like a complete newb asshole how the fuck do i adjust
the idle since i got it its been running at like 1600 which is just way to damn high i adjusted the two screws that i thought might do it but to no avail and if you wanna know which 2 screws its the one in the top of the tb and the one that holds the arms it has a spring in the middle sorry for the explanation i know there not tech terms but its the best i got

the two are the red ones on this pic

all_about_imports 03-30-09 08:46 PM

plaes help me cause i am now lost

IanS 03-30-09 09:31 PM

lol, not that much of a noob question. I had the same one and Mr Steve had to come down and do it for me. There is another screw that looks exactly like the top one only its on the side of the TB. Use that one. Also do a search for setting the TPS and make sure that it is spot on.

I know why you guys are saying not washington. You lazy fuckers dont want to stay up all night at the strip and then drive the 1 hr+ to my place. Its cool, we'll have the meet at the May household. Dont expect me to offer again.

Edit: Better idea - Let's have it at E's place since the last time there actually was a meet there a whole bunch of people showed up.

You guys figure it out and then pick someone to call me and tell me the time and place. I've only missed 2 meets - The most recent Eric one and the DM one a few years ago.

Jeez, do you want some cheese with that wine. We're still meeting in washington, but a few of us are going to the drag strip the night before. It doesnt mean we wont come down. Plus you better show up to run something at cordova.

IanS 03-30-09 09:59 PM

You know exactly what Im talking about. As for Cordova - maybe...

Edit: Yeah so when are you guys going home? 5 am when they kick you out?

the two are the red ones on this pic

Lower Red Circle - Thermal wax - used to speed up your idle when the car is cold.

Top Red Circle - that is your idle adjust

blue circle - that adjusts your air/fuel mixture at idle.

The throttle body screw that Ian was talking about is to hold open the throttle and is not the correct way to set an idle. Assuming no vac leaks and a properly running engine the top red circle should be enough.

all_about_imports 03-31-09 12:31 AM

well i dont think 1600 is a properly running and that top screw did just about nothing so what is you take then sess

E Dogg 03-31-09 05:36 PM

E Dogg 04-01-09 08:31 AM

springs are for seals inside the motor, doing a rebuild

If you adjusted the screw Ian told you - your butterfly valves are not closing completely.

you need to clearence them otherwise you have too much air flowing by (High idle).

you could also have a vacuum leak.

Easiest thing to do is unscrew the Throttle body set screw all the way out.

Then screw them jsut enough so that they barely stop/touch the cam. This is how they are suppose to be set.

Also make sure your adjusting your idle after it is warmed up.

Your thermal wax cam can be holding your throttle open aslo if it's screwed to far in.

Sounds like it could be the FPR which is mounted at the end of the return line after the injectors.

FPR = Fuel Pressure Regulator
