What precludes me from HAVING to run standalone?
Basically that's the question. I'm converting to big single on my RE motor. Going into an FC vert.
I know the GB is "coming real soon" :) but I want to know if I get everything else together, will I be able to run my vert or should I just wait. I'm not sure I can wait another 3 months to turn the key. :( Anyway, To4e, divided mani, RE motor (unported), want to run mild boost levels right now, got the fuel pump on the way, will be ordering the FPR soon, and been eyeing the wastegates and BOVs for a bit. Haven't selected anything yet though. Other thing I still need to do is buy bigger injectors, and I suspect I may have to go w/ a custom fuel rail(s) but not positive. Prolly depends on what I find for injectors. Anyway, all that said, will I be forced to run a standalone EMS? *sigh* |
Will you be forced to run a standalone? Well, yes. :) Unless you can get ahold of the stock harness, coils, ECU, etc from the Cosmo, and then hack it up to deliver the fuel and spark timing necessary to properly control such a wildly non-stock setup, well... ;) Put it this way: you could do it without a standalone, but it'd take twice the expense for half the result.

All of those single-turbo goodies take a very long time to select and install. I'm sure that another group buy will come along soon enough. If you really can't wait, then don't be a penny-pinching tightwad and pay the very reasonable regular price. :stickpoke
IMO a stock NA FC needs a standalone EMS, lol. Unfortunately, most people don't ever realize how much better the car runs with a standalone because, much like you, they pile on so many mods prior to the EMS that the true value of the EMS is never appreciated. |

Okay, if you promise me I can get my MT in reasonable time w/ the GB, I'll just wait. Don't really want to put all that crap together just to rewire it later anyway. I'll just start gathering my junk and see where I'm at when I'm ready to stick everything in. Hopefully by that time the GB will be underway. I'm really getting pumped about this now. It just seems like there are so many more "success stories" w/ the MT than any other EMS at the moment! Thanks everyone! Looking forward to my MT purchase! |
Shit, my stock turboII runs really really really great with "rxeng" base map, runs way better than it did before and it runs up to 20MPG, not no 9 MPG i had before because of extreme richness and open vent BOV, etc. The cold start starts up really QUICK, more than faster than ever, my car is soo damn smooth when its idling too, i didn't even believe that it was my car!

The most difficult part about it is matching the color wires if you can't discern red/greens very well.
Tans look like yellow to me... :) Easy? I dunno about EASY, but as evil said, it's like a stereo...only with plugs and having to remove the UIM/TB/CC. I'd rather change a numerical value on a laptop/handset then tear into a carb to change jets. |
