Timing won't advance

While tinkering today I decided to double check the timing. So I borrowed a timing light, set the timing lock to ON and found the timing to be right on the pulley mark where it should be.

The problem began when I turned the timing lock OFF and rechecked the pulley to find that the timing did not advance or retard at all when at idle or when I gingerly revved the motor.

I did not check the CAS positioning (I had a local rotary guru do this when setting the timing about a month ago, but at the time we neglected to lock the timing first hence my double checking). I used the front leading wire for the timing light if this matters. If anyone has any ideas as to what sort of mistake I made here I'd love to hear it. Thanks!

Check to make sure the timing lock is off. Go back in and just make sure its off.

Next make sure your tps is calibrated so that the computer is actually switching over to the load map.

The TPS is calibrated (99% at WOT), and my program said that the Timing check was OFF.

It's not like my timing adjust maps are all blank either, cuz I'm using silverRotor's setup.

Also if I forgot to mention earlier I'm using an LTX-8 unit, and programming with the microtech laptop tuning software.

Are there any other variables that could effect timing in this way? Could the car be in some sort of limp mode due to a bad connection to my coils?

Damn, makes me feel like a bit of an idiot. I had the same thing with the opt_TIMmax setting. Thanks a bunch. Now that that is sorted, I just need to fix my wideband sensor and get to tuning.

It's alright. we all have to learn some how some way. never to late to start either! If it wasnt for rx72c i would be lost a long time ago.
