Does a handset come w/ the unit?

Does a dash unit do everything the handset does?

If so, can you swap the handset and some $$ for the dash unit?

hey thats my handset:D
I was told it has the ability to store 4 maps in the handset???

rxeng 02-03-03 05:18 AM

The dash unit & handset are both optional extras.
The 4 line handset is $165 Aus
The dash unit is $450 Aus
They are essentially the same however the dash has a few extra features.
*Much larger display
*Programmable ultra bright 4 LED rev & gear shift indicator
*Programmable warning lights for water temp, air temp, boost, battery voltage & oil pressure. If one of these errors are detected by the dash unit the left hand high intensity orange LED will switch on & a warning message will appear on the screen. The error codes are.....Water_T,Air_T,Battery,Boost & Oil_P.
*The main display consists of a bar graph tachometer across the top line & a digital rev counter & water temp/boost pressure display on the second line. The water temp display is automatically replaced the moment positive manifold pressure is detected.
*The dash unit comes with a remote mounted toggle switch to cycle between the 4 main data screens.
screen 1....As described above
screen 2....displays engine revs & vacuum/boost on the top line & timing advance/injector open time on the second line.
screen 3....displays water & air temp on the top line & timing advance/injector open time on the second line.
screen 4....displays TPS & battery voltage on the top line & timing advance/injector open time on the bottom line.
Each press of the button cycles from one data screen to the next data screen.

yes it can, if you scroll across on the first screen you will see it says save to mem cell 1,2,3,4 , pick the one you want to save to and hold the red mode button for about 4 secs and it will say saving, once saved it is there in your handset, you can then dump these maps onto any LT/LTX,
its a good idea to save your maps before you start playing with something, then if it dosent work you can dump the maps back off the hand set by doing the same as above execpt going to the load memcell and holding the mode button.

I plan to get the laptop cable to making tuning easier but if I get the Dash Unit do I not need the Handset for changing maps or whatever I might want to do when I am with out my laptop?

rxeng 02-04-03 05:39 AM

You can store 4 maps on the laptop adaptor also!!!!!

Can the dash unit and the handset both be connected at the same time?

10sec rx7 02-06-03 03:44 PM

No they both use the same connector on the ECU

Spool Up 02-08-03 06:22 PM

can it display boost in other measurements besides mm/Hg??? Like bar or psi?

rxeng 02-09-03 01:04 AM

The "HG figure is for vacuum.
Once the handset sees positive pressure it will read in PSI.
It isn't switchable to bar (metric) though.

Even thought they both use the same cable, it's a simple serial I/O cable. you could probably find/make a T

rxeng 02-10-03 05:39 AM

There isn't really a need to have them both connected at the same time. They both have the same data displayed on them & you can still make adjustments with the dash unit anyway.

So which handset is $98 in the group buy? The 2 line or the 4 line? Whats the price of the other, if one is $98?

RotaryRevn 02-10-03 09:47 PM

I believe Dale said that the 4 line wasn't available yet for the lt series

10sec rx7 02-10-03 09:51 PM

Thats correct,

By the time the group buy is done they may have one done, Jon will be able to tell you which one, i suspect it will be a 2 line.

Dale

TonyTurboII 02-10-03 10:30 PM

Oh yeah, I see where it says MT on the 4 line and LT on the 2 line. Doh. I guess ill be ordering the 2 line then. The 4 line for the LT is definately coming though?

chris_stampe 02-25-03 12:13 PM

The dash unit doesnt look like you could use it to tune in the absence of a lap top. It doesnt have all the buttons that the hand set does. Can It still do all the things that the handset can?

TonyTurboII 02-25-03 01:27 PM

Yes, it can do anything the handset can.

10sec rx7 02-25-03 03:14 PM

A 4 line will be avaliable sooner or later, the only difference is the 4 line displays data on the bottom 2 lines.,

Can the dash display store 4 maps like the handset?

A rough estimate on when? I wont be ordering it till the end of April, what are the chances the 4 line model will be ready by then? How about cost, how much more will the 4 line be over the 2 line?

Thanks In Advance
