Newbie software questions

I've got an lt10c I inherited with a parts car that I bought recently.
The parts car was an 87 TII with an S5 engine. Mine is an 88 TII with an S4 engine.
I swapped pretty much everything ignition related over.. coils, uim, throttle body, lt10c.

The parts car started and ran fine.

I'm having a hard time getting mine started. It'll start with starter fluid, but not on its' own.
I was told that I should check the water and crank maps on the microtech software. I tried that last night, but was unable to get to the screens to adjust the maps.

According to the manual, the func/adj buttons should allow me to scroll through the screens but they dont seem to be working.

I put the ignition in the on position, F1 to connect the software to the microtech, then attempt to use the func/adj buttons with no success.

What am I missing? I know it's something simple.

Does it actually connect? In, can you see the gauges change?

Yes, it connects. I figured out how to get around by disregarding those buttons and using the hot keys.
