New Microtech "C" Software keeps crashing
I downloaded and installed the new Microtech software. But as soon as I connect my to my LT8-X it instantly crashes. Anybody else have this problem or is just me? I dont remember the exact error message but I think is said something about space.

pretty sure it says somewhere that the LTC software extra features work only on LTC ecus anyhows
almost 24 yrs since i first tried their products
i can tell you to not hold your breath waiting for backup for the company with forthcoming debugged software

I believe I have a copy of the old software. Yep, I do...

Thanks Aaron. I found a copy of the old software on the microtech nz site. I installed the old software same thing happened. Apparently the software doesn't like my Serial to USB converter. Tried a different converter and it worked fine.

What's your adapter?
Personally my choice are PCMCIA/CardBus adapters. They often contain a real UART instead of one driven by software. More expensive though and many laptops don't come with those slots anymore.

Its a USB to serial converter. It comes up as the brand Prolific in the windows control panel. The microtech doesn't like it but it works fine with my Innovate LC-1 and LMA-3.

Try reducing the send/receive buffers on the COM port. That often helps with cheap USB adapters.
There are also a LOT of counterfeit Prolific and FDDI chips out there. Some better than others.

Not sure if this is what you may need but it did it for me.
