Microtech LT8 + Steve Kan + my car = happiness!!!

Hi guys!

for those of you who remember, I've had quite a lot of trouble of my microtech along the past 2 years : blown ECU, couldn't get the car to start, difficulty to get an ignition trigger etc... ( https://www.rx7club.com/microtech-111/huge-flooding-connection-issues-547902/ )

I finally was able to start it up, but it ran like true shit and i'm so confused when it comes to tuning...

So I went for the Jet set way because quebec's rx club invited mr Steve Kan from Gotham Racing for a tuning weekend! I litteraly Jumped on this occasion, knowing his reputation.

I had quite a lot of problem before the tuning though, Steve told me that my C.A.S. was really weak and he told me it is the reason why THE TRAILING COIL DOESN'T FIRE WHEN CRANKING. I know quite a lot of people here had this problem, si check if your C.A.S. is good.

Once this problem was solved, it was literally magic! Steve started from SCRATCH to make me a decent fuel map and in a matter of less than 5 minutes, the car ran like a charm and we were heading on the highway for street tuning.

In less than a hour of driving on the highway, Steve's made a complete map with a dual boost setup ( 7 and 10PSI ). The car literally flies now!!!!

The AFR are top notch and the timing is perfect! There's even no possible way I could have imagined my car running this good. Even better than factory new. No hot start issues, no hesitations.

This is by far the best 400$ that I've invested in a car!

Plus Steve is a really funny, professional and cool dude!

We're probably gonna call him again next year for another tuning weekend in quebec!

I just wanted to share my experience with you guys, I am just sooooo damn happy right now!!!

I see that you have the TB mod (removed butterflies?) did you have a stumble just off idle?
Was he able to tune out the stumble?

Mine has a stumble just off idle. I'm guessing it’s from the TB mod.

well there are so many factor that influence idle ( tps, vacuum leaks, tb etc ) that I would not be sure if it would be the TB really affecting anything

As for my case, Steve didn't seem to adjust the throttle body. He did adjust the TPS though...

my idle is fine, no bumps or anything. It's simply a bit high ( around 1000rpm ), but I'm gonna fix this

my idle it rock solid at 750rpm's...perfect, but when I move the throttle I get a little stumble and then its fine. Once I get past that little stumble it rev's just fine.

Maybe it is a rich spot or a misadjusted TPS

every time I got a rich spot while steve was tuning it, my car had horrible hesitations, so he told me to slow down to fix the rich spot.

thanks, I hope it can be tuned out....I don't know if its a rich or lean spot because I don't have my wide band hooked up yet.

The TPS is zeroed out so it should be fine.
