its scary to buy a micro tech they dont start in the cold

why spend so much money and they dont even start in the cold
there should be a parameter for cold climates

rxspeed7 01-04-11 08:57 PM

there is.... its called water and air temp correction maps. i have never had a problem starting my car in freezing weather.

flaco 01-04-11 09:49 PM

lol

dennis blackstone 01-05-11 02:40 PM

Huh?

Microtechs have a cold cranking map and air/water timing/fuel temperature correction maps like any other ECU. They also have afterstart enrichment like all other ECUs.

Where are you getting this misinformation?

joeylyrech 01-05-11 05:24 PM

It has been in the 20s all week long and my car starts right up and is not even 100% tuned.
Water map and Air temp map adjust them maybe you are not getting enough fuel or getting to much.

dennis blackstone 01-05-11 06:21 PM

it came with the car my brother bought ..we tried googling it but we have no info ...it started before when we had 50degree whether ...now it dont

RotaryEvolution 01-05-11 06:44 PM

get it tuned then.

It needs to be tuned, plain and simple. The ECU was probably tuned in warm weather and then left alone. An experienced tuner can guess well enough based on previous settings, but all the fine tuning needs to be done in the appropriate conditions.

The process is the same regardless of the ECU used. Even if it is something as archaic as the Microtech.

dennis blackstone 01-08-11 03:51 PM

i read the manual i cant find the cold cranking

rxspeed7 01-08-11 04:53 PM

did you read the manual???? i posted a link to it a few posts up. the cranking, air temp and water temp correction map are on page 19 of the pdf file and are screens 20,21, and 22 in the computer.

dennis blackstone 01-10-11 10:05 PM

thanks so much...i know ill have to have my tuner set it up
but can you share your setting to give an idea ,,,i now every car is differant

elturbonitroso 01-11-11 04:23 PM

injector sizes influences alot also like you say every engine its different.

dennis blackstone 01-11-11 07:27 PM

theres a walboro fuel pump ...2 1000cc 2-720cc, a bnr stage 2 turbo..

rotorholic 01-11-11 07:47 PM

I'm sure its not the Microtech. My car started today (also in the 20s)

`iCED 01-11-11 11:36 PM

I had the same problem on my lt-8, but didn't even have a chance to tackle the problem because my car got stolen lol.

My brother has the lt-8s and he dd's it. It was in the 30's in riverside a couple weeks ago and his car starts up fine.

dennis blackstone 01-12-11 02:07 PM

it basically a surprise when my brother bought the car and the seller did not say there was a micotech in there ..we have no clue on microtech ..so we tried to do some research but still could not get the car to start in the cold
so now we have the manual we just dont understand where we should start
we have a tuner t&r but they do haltech all we need is a map to get it started

or some base parameters to go by and adjust accordingly

elturbonitroso 01-12-11 04:34 PM

where in ct you are located.

Aaron Cake 01-13-11 08:52 AM

What happens when you try to start the car?

Does it crank forever and not catch?

Does it start and then immediately stall?

Please describe in detail what the issue is and we can suggest settings to change.

dennis blackstone 01-23-11 10:34 AM

i tried that map it worked whooooooooo
im going to try it today it supposed to be in the single digits
thanks so much

can anyone explain how the map works to help in the cold weather

also when it warms up in new england will i have to change maps

rotorholic 01-23-11 02:09 PM

When it gets warm, You wont need to change nothing, The coolant/water map should take care of it.

Its time to change the tittle of the thread now, I told you it wasn't the Microtech:nod:

dennis blackstone 01-23-11 08:39 PM

your right
it was just the map
when i changed the map to the one on this thread it started right up

it would be nice to have a built in map for west coast and eastcost lol

Aaron Cake 01-29-11 10:01 AM

If you just plugged in the map posted, you shouldn't run the car under load until it is properly tuned. It may be too rich, it may be too lean, etc.

You'll also have to fine tune the rest of the map. Then wait until the weather is warmer so you can adjust the temperature maps so the car runs correctly under all conditions.

drifting in drifting 01-30-11 10:58 AM

USe your old map and use the colder temp settings off my map

dennis blackstone 02-01-11 06:18 PM

well we bought the car and discovered we had the microtech...we had no clue on it untill we used the search button
but thanks to you guys we were able to get it started
weve only drove around the block a few time
the only tuners we now
are t&r racing but they tune haltech
so now were trying to do some research on understang how to use it then

then find a tuner
no boost for us until we get a good tuner

elturbonitroso 02-02-11 06:26 PM
