Idle Issues

I have a concern about idle.

S4 T2 block
Lt10S
large streetport
BNR stage 4 turbo
Stock T2 Coils
550 Primaries
1600Secondaries Parallel Fuel rails

My problem is that the RPM at which my car idles at is dependent on temperature

For instance my car idles close to 800-1K RPM's from 100* - 165* but when the electric fan kicks in it will idle constantly around 1200-1400 RPM's at 175* or more.

Is there a reason for this?

No BAC valve

microtechs have no voltage compensation map
,, so if you have a marginal alt,, ( or in the case of s4's ,, marginal B+ wiring as well )
and you put all the current draw on ( lights and fans )
then you drop the voltage avail at the injectors,, which increases their lag time,, and leans your mixture a bit

and so,, when you are fully up to temp,, the fans kick in and thus lean out the mixtures just a little
and so your engine idles fast,, cause it is actually a little over-rich from the map

( or,, more correctly fans and lights may have been on when the tuner set up the initial idle )

Sounds like your idle map is too rich.

No BAC valve
And this is a large part of it as well.

If i remove fuel from my idle map, do i have to compensate in my water map?

I slowly started to realize this, but when i ordered it i had no idea it didn't come with the BAC option standard.....

You'll likely need to tweak the water map a but during warmup.

why hasn't anyone used the auxiliary out for an idle control solenoid yet?

I'd love to, but in my case Microtech told me my ECU was too old to have that option enabled. Strange, because my LT8s was purchased about 12 months after the original release. Without the BAC function active, it's just an on/off output and low current, so either a relay or external circuit would be needed to activate a BAC valve.

yeah, i figure it wouldn't give a good duty cycle reading with these brain dead units but at least trip a relay at idle throttle poisition to open an idle solenoid valve to kick up the RPMs a few hundred.
