I need the CD version software for lt8

Hello, Can anyone supply me a microtech software"program" I have bought my lt8 used without a CD from microtech. I have downloaded the version from microtechefi.com and it doesnt work?. When i plug my lt8 in the pc reads that the ecu is plugged. But when i start messing with the system it does not do anything.
So im wondering if i need the CD from the manufacture. If please if anyone can burn me one i would greatly appreciate it. I will also throw in some cash. Thanks in advance to all microtech user's.

have you opend the program? and do you have power to the Microtech?

Further are you running it with a serial cable or with a USB cable?

Hi,

did you got the Microtech's adapter with your LT8? You need the adapter to be able to receive Data from ECU. Without adapter you will be able to connect to ECU (from the program point of view) but you will not be able to read or write anything to ECU.

SKIM41= I did hook up the cable line to my ecu. And it reads it. If i detach the ecu it will say no ecu connected. So im guessing it's reading it? Also the microtech lt8 green light turns on and the yellow light blinks while on.. Do you think im using the wrong 9pin cable?

IWAN= I am using my PC. I dont have a Laptop. I was reading for a bit and it said i can use a PC?

ARVIKA= Do i have to use a laptop adapter on a emachine? I also have the XP version on my computer..

The adapter works as a Hardwarelock... Don't know if you ever worked with the older CAD/CAM programs??? They used to have them!
But it will not work without it! You can find more info at, www.microtechefi.com

You must use the laptop adapter from Microtech. It's a special piece, not something you can get at your local electronics shop. :-)

It's not only an adapter, it's also a memory for 4 different maps!
Could as an example be usefull if you change from regular petrol to race petrol...

Yep! I finally got mine in the mail yesterday and couldn't resist taking it apart. :-P I got the shell apart, but the circuit board inside of it was hotglued facing down and I didn't want to press my luck with pressing it out. Lot's of little components soldered on there that I'm sure they don't want us looking at.

Wow,
I really thought the laptop adapter was just for the laptop to be pluged in the MT ecu? I would have never guess that it actually did anything. It almost makes sense to me just to buy the hand controller for like $50.00 dollars more? What do you guys think. Is the hand controller almost as functional as the PC tuning itself..

For an example: If you have your MT tuned to where you are happy with. Would you have to retune again a few months later? because it may feel a little slow..I have heard that people that uses these things for racing purpose always tune there MT. Or do you always keep the same set-up?

you need a laptop, sure you can set base maps with a PC but unless you get a few miles of cable or have a dyno in your shop it isn't the most ideal way to tune.

Realy? I didnt think it was anything special. I thought it was maybe a resistor or something stupid and cheap in order for someone to actually have to buy it to connect. Anyways, I believe the memory is in the ecu itself.

The memory is in the ECU... It would not work without it!
But there are four memorys for different maps in the adapter...
If you have a handset you have four memorys there.

WHY DON'T PEOPLE READ THE MANUALS???

Its not the manual.. I read the damn manual like 2ice before I even took it out the box. I thought they said it to get you to buy the laptop adaptor... I thought maybe they put a resistor or something inside so that it wouldnt work with out it. Im sure someone is gunna come out with a clone if its something simple...

Why not just buy one from Microtech? Just because something looks simple on the outside, doesn't mean it is. ;-) $100 isn't that much.
