Does fuel pump have to be wired through Microtech?

If I don't have my fuel pump wired through the microtech will I have problems? My buddy wired my 85 fuel pump backwards or something so when I start the car, the fuel pump would cut out. Well, anyways, he cut the green wire for a quick fix so that the pump is now running like stock. I noticed while reading peoples maps that there is a pump setting. I'm assuming this is fuel pump right?

thanks

the pump setting has nothing to do with the fuel pump.

Your buddy sounds like he has no clue what he is doing.
the microtech will not cut the fuel pump out unless it is faulty.
