Dash unit display while cranking?

I went out to start the car today, and wash it off, as its been sitting for awhile.

Had a dead battery.

Thats fine.

I go to jump it, and the starter works and everything, but when its cranking the dash unit shows nothing, lights or anything.

Could there be something wrong with the unit, or is the battery just that dead that the ECU isnt seeing enough voltage because the starter is hogging it all?

the dash unit should come on when you turn the key power on. I had a problem a while ago w/my battery turminals..it's very important the ecu has a good voltage source

Weird question......Would you mind taking some measurements of the dash units outer dimensions? I can't find them on any web site.

Yeah, it was set.

The unit would light up, but go out as soon as the key was put in the start position.

When I turned it back to run, the unit lit back up.

Meh. I think its the battery.

Took it up to the auto store and its showing about 9 volts. Gonna go return it for warranty.

I bought it in another state, from an autostore that doesnt have any chains around here. Suxor.

Good thing its only like 45 minutes away.

Well I went and returned it, it did end up being bad.

Dropped it in, no more problems.
