Microtech cold start problem? need some help.
cold start problem? need some help.
Ok, here is the problem:
My car will not start it is flooded.
It ran fine before (just way rich on the Microtech base program) it sat for the last 5mo.
When I tried to start it, the battery was almost dead, I mean it barely turned over but it
started for a second and then died.
I tried to restart it but the battery just did not have enough juice. I put a battery charger
on it and tried again but nothing, it just spun really fast like it was flooded.
So I pulled the plugs (that are new) spun the engine over a few times, then squirted some
oil into the lower plug holes, cleaned up the plugs and reinstalled them.
Tried again but again it flooded……did it all over again a few times. It will bang and
pop but it will not start.
Now remember it use to run fine, it would start right up and idle perfectly at 750-800rpms,
I have only driven it down my street a few times very slowly.
I am thinking that because of the colder weather the ECU is dumping way to much fuel. I
would like to pull some fuel out during cranking but I am not sure how.
I just want to get it running so I can drive it to the shop that I plan to have tune it.
Can someone suggest what I should try?…..oh, and is there a way to save the base
program before I go changing things?
Thanks,
Bill
