Base map too much fuel with larger injectors?
I'm trying to fire up my project car, just wondering if the base map the microtech has will over fuel the engine when i'm using 720/1600cc injectors. The computer i'm using is the LT10s, TII engine, KG parts fuel rails and 55 psi fuel pressure. The plugs are fouling very quickly with fuel, and just wondering if I should be changing some settings to get it to initally fire up.
thanks for the help. |
I dropped the fuel pressure down to 40 psi. Still wondering the same question if I have to cut back the fuel on the microtech in order to get the vehicle to start with these larger injectors?

put this map in should fix your problems.

Just a quickie, why in the t*rpm map is the timing "??" @ 7500rpm? is this an error?
t*rpm Screen 23 Idle ~ 20 1000 ~ 20 1500 ~ 20 2000 ~ 20 2500 ~ 25 3000 ~ 25 3500 ~ 25 4000 ~ 25 4500 ~ 25 5000 ~ 25 5500 ~ 25 6000 ~ 25 6500 ~ 25 7000 ~ 25 7500 ~ ?? 8000 ~ 25 9000 ~ 25 ive seen it in a few maps posted on this forum... |
its not an error
the microtech map dosnt have a map for 7500. |
why is that? can you explain it clearer, I dont mean to sound like an idiot....but wot would happen if you put 25 so u'd get
7000-25 7500-25 8000-25 8500-25 9000-25 |
lol..
you know what, youve got me curious know. i cant remember if the7500 map is their or not. i know for suire the 8500map does not exist in the microtech, it jumps straight from 8000 to 9000. |
haha...now that u mention it, i remember when tuning my car a while back my
lt10s in the WOTmap didn't have a 7500 map, it just jumped straight from 7000 to 8000rpm. but yea im pretty sure the t*rpm has a value for 7500... |
Id say if the rpm wot map dosnt have a 7500map then the t_rpm "should not" have the 7500map.
if you get a chance to check before i do. check it. im curious. |
any further word on this? i havnt had a chance to check as i sold my car last week...
|
7000
8000 9000 thats how it is. |
is that for WOT , t*rpm or both?
|
only t_rpm.
|
using this map the car is still seeming to want to stall out after idling for a bit. Also if I blip the throttle it stalls out as well. Wondering if you have any tips?
|
Ok heres a few more details at idle my afr is 12.0-12.3. As soon as any throttle is applied it leans out and I am getting about 14.0 and the motor stumbles. What areas should I start to adjust first to correct this? Just trying to get the car so its driveable so I can take it about a mile so its home.
|
Pump2Start ~ 2000
Pump1Amt ~ 30 Pump1Pulse ~ 04 Pump1Trig ~ 15 Pump1Stop ~ 00 Pump1Adv ~ 05 The above will fix your blip on the throttle. ANd as for your idle THis should help Idle Map Screen 1 30" ~ 1.38 25" ~ 1.48 20" ~ 1.38 15" ~ 1.76 10" ~ 1.76 05" ~ 1.62 00" ~ 2.00 2-20psi ~ 4.95 |
excellent thank you so much for the quick reply. I will let you know tomorrow how it works out!

The car is running much better but heres a weird thing i noticed... I dont seem to be getting spark on the leading coil pack, wondering how this is even possible when the trailing is not even supposed to fire on cranking? I have the grey blue wire from the microtech hooked up to the pink on the leading coil pack, and the tan wire hooked up to switched ignition power. Under no conditions do I seem to be getting the leading pack to fire, but the trailing is working fine and even when cranking...
edit: also tested both connections at the connector going to the leading coil pack and both have constant power? If I unplug the leading coil pack connector while its running there is no change in how it runs. Im kinda puzzled about this. |
Thats good that its running better.
Does it still not spark with the car on? Id be changing the leading coil pack. |
It doesn't spark at all which is very strange because it shouldn't start than? I am going to try a different coil pack and I am thinking about checking that the wiring is correct into the microtech unit. It seems like the trailing coil packs are recieving the signal that is meant for the leading coils. I am almost completely positive the wiring to the coil packs is correct...
It just so happens I also have a spare coil pack sitting in the garage that I can try out. |
So an update, I found that the leading coil pack ignitor was messed up. Swapped in a new coil pack/ignitor and got the car running again. Set the timing, runs much better now!
Still I am finding that once I put the car into gear and try and move a bit the load causes the engine to stumble and stall out. Should I maybe be focusing on slightly adjusting the load map. It still seems to goto a lean misfire afrs go from 11.5-12 at idle and lean out to 14-15 when I try moving it a bit. |
Load
30" ~ 0.95 25" ~ 1.19 20" ~ 1.43 15" ~ 1.91 10" ~ 2.34 05" ~ 2.76 00" ~ 3.05 Put this load map in From what i can tell your "720cc" injectors are flowing more like 550cc injectors. Give the above a go. See how you go. |
You sir are the best!
The car is now running like a dream! First time in three years I have been able to drive it. Thank you very much, the person who sold me those injectors must have pulled a quick one on me. :( |
Good to hear mate.

What are you bumping?:)

Please keep this thread clear and keep it to PMs conceptz.
rx72c I pulled my injectors out and got them flow tested... Interesting thing is after doing my research the injectors are 720's and 1680cc's here are the injectors i have. primaries: denso top feed: 720cc, part number: 195500-0830 http://injector-rehab.com/images/inj...95500-0830.jpg secondaries: bosch top feed 1680cc, part number: 0280150842 http://injector-rehab.com/images/inj.../280150842.jpg Just wondering if you have any input as to why I had issues with the inital map then? The primary injectors (2.2 ohms) flowed 48cc in ten seconds @ 40 psi @ 6ms pulse The secondarys (4.8 ohms) flowed 94cc in ten seconds @ 40 psi @ 6ms pulse Just wanting to make sure the right injectors are in before I make the 13 hour (each way) trip to get the car tuned. thanks! |
Just because the part no. says its a 720cc injector it dosnt mean it will flow that much etc. They are all alittle different.
I would not let it worry you. |
Honestly, Thank you for this great Discussion.. it has enlighten me :)
Specially RX72c. Many Thanks From KUWAIT. |
Yep mate you are the best
|
Hey mate i need your help,i have the same setup of Dan the only diferent the my fuel system is now paralell I use all the maps you tell him in the threat and start only with my foot in the gas at soon I remove the foot from the gas just shut off and the afr just go up like 15.
|
Did you put in the idle map i gave to dan?
the second one that is? might be abit lean. |
Yes I did but like I said only stay running if I keep my foot in thr gas,I thing in change the system again from paralell to regular again and see what happen beacuse the fuel preassure regulator just go up to 15.
|
Yes was lean when I stared
|
The car start mate but at soon give some throttle get rich and the motor stumbles, what you thing I can do?
|
Who said its rich. More likely its lean on inital throttle hit. Take your car to a dyno and get it tuned.
|
Let me explain better, the car start and when I take it to the road and the car start get boost is when stumbles and geting rich.Where I live is no dyno close so I have to drive like 10hours to Florida and how is the car now I not want to drived so far.
|
Hey mate the fuel regulator was at 60 psi now at 40 psi nice but when boost pass 5000 rpm stumble and the afr read 10.0 so too rich yo know or explain. Me how i cam fits that. Thanks
|
i need to know what boost the afr is 10 at. If you give me poor info i cant help
rpm means nothing. i need to know the load. |
wish people posted up there maps and things like you do for megasquirt. my car is still super rich buying plugs for my car is getting old
|
wiil this map work for an lt-8? same size injectors and not starting fouling plugs.
|
yeh it will work.
|
Would anything be different if I'm running 4 secondary injectors? Thanks
|
Just a shout out to rx72c and Dan S Young. I plugged this map in earlier today (nearly identical engine setup, though Dan's car is far prettier :P) and it ran better than it ever has before, a fact the wideband backed up. Thanks fellas!
It does still fall flat on its face and often dies with any quick application of throttle, as Dan described earlier. This only occurs at low rpm, ie. from idle, not higher rpm so I'm thinking its either the load map before staging or pump settings. The culprit could very well be the modified throttle body with secondary plates and dampers removed, in any case ill take a stab at the load map tomorrow. Im guessing my 720s will fall somewhere between the first and second maps rx72c suggested. Pump settings are beyond me though! Any further suggestions or hints would be appreciated, but frankly I just wanted to say thanks! :) |
