why do so many people bag microtech ecu's i havent had problem with my one i know the MTs arent as tunable for street driving as ya would like but ive been hearing the LT series is verry good now and a lot more tunable but people still bag them and say there only good for rotors??

Fact is, a lot of people simply don't know much about the Microtech line of EMSes. There's a lot of misinformation floating around, people get features confused between models, etc.

I'm also going to stick my neck out and say that I think the established Haltech tuners are threatened by it. Before the Microtech, the Haltech was the low-end EMS; but for a lot of people, the Haltech is too expensive, hard/expensive to tune, or was simply overkill. The Microtech, I think, will be the best choice for the weekend N/A warrior who wants to ditch his AFM, or the guy putting a 13BT into an RX-3 - it's simple, it's fast, and it's easy. I'll also say that I think the overlap between the two market segments is minimal, but the various established Haltech tuners feel that people are going to gravitate toward "cheap", which isn't the case when $3,000 motors are on the line. I think that the Haltech tuners, by "bagging" the Microtech, are simply acting in their interests and trying to protect their market. Yay capitalism! ;)

So to answer your question, madaz07, it's a little bit ignorance, and it's a little bit conspiracy. ;)

yeah thats what im starting to think they dont know much about it so they say its crap, its they same old thing with rotary engines people that dont even have the faintest idea how they work etc say there shit and unreliable. so far my car has been more reliable than my friends turbo piston cars:D

The guy that was tuning my car said he liked haltech's so much he threw it across the street :D

He was very impressed with how the microtech with no map changes was controlling my Rx-7

1) The Microtech EMS resolution is a generation behind the newest Haltech and Wolf products.
2) The older Microtech products were not made very well, and you can't expect this reputation to change until the public gets more exposure to the newer, higher quality products.
3) Ignorant people blame blown engines, tuning problems, and installation problems on the EMS.

Hehehe, the main problem is that the Haltech Jihad doesn't accept the fact that their products are low-end. I would hardly call the E6K overkill for anything but a chainsaw, and I thought its software was terrible. Now that Haltech copied the Wolf software I think tuning will be easier.

The microtech is used to tune Abel Ibarra's car and many other of the worlds fastest rotaries. The Haltech is universal and the microtech is designed especially for rotaries. It is only a lack of knowledge about the microtech that turns people away from it.

FYI, Haltech 's software is based on their own patented bar graph which was created more than 10 years ago. The window 3D version seems to be universal among all aftermarket ecus. The Microtech LT series I believe is here to compete with the E6K.

Wolf has had 3D Windows software since version 3.0 was introduced several years ago. Haltech has been DOS-based until a few months ago when the E11 hit the market. The fact is that Haltech is one of the last major EMS manufacturers to offer Windows software to the public.

IMO the Microtech LT series would mostly compare with the older Wolf3D V3. They have similar resolution, software, and hand controller. I don't see much comparison with the DOS-based Haltech E6K that has no provision for a hand controller, although I agree that they are in the same class. Depending on user preference, the Microtech LT could have better features than the previously-mentioned EMS products, and at 2/3 the price, I don't really see much competition.
