How many miles on it? It looks clean and almost new!

I don't really know the history on the starter. I helped a local guy last year when he was getting ready to put his car on the market and he came back later, giving me this starter plus a couple other things left over, after selling the car. He told me that sometime earlier, he replaced his starter which did not fix his previous problem. I assumed this was the one he bought as a replacement.

I took it to a local auto parts store where it tested good, and was going to keep it as a spare. But looking further, I discovered that even though it would bolt right up, it isn't compatible with any of my cars. I'm an SA guy and all my cars all have 9 tooth pinion gears. This one has an 11 tooth gear. I looked at swapping in a spare 9 tooth gear, but it seems it also has a different length main shaft, preventing the 9 tooth gear from engaging with the flywheel correctly. Who knew? So, I decided to just offer it up to someone who can use it.

Might, it was bought for an 84 GS but I can't say for sure. I've never owned anything later than a 1980.
