Description:
‘94 MB Touring model Track Day and Time Trial pavement pounder. I’m exiting the track driving life and entering the spectating life; at 67 years, this car is now way faster than I need to be. It is however, a project.
Chassis has no rust, 137k miles, repainted sheet metal displays ~ 25 parking lot dings and 4 poorly rolled fenders. SEIBON carbon fiber hood vented for track purposes to extract underhood heat.
Suspension is Ohlins FP Spec DFV longstroke coilovers from SBG on all corners with the full float teflon aurora bearing top hats and the ‘Competition’ 14/12 kg (Swift) setup. SBG billet-cut stabilizer bar reinforcement mount. Fewer than 20 hours on track. Rear pillow ***** replaced 50 track hours ago.
Brakes are SBG AP Racing ‘Competition’ setup front and rear; fronts are AP CP8240 Calipers and AP 3908 Jhook rotors in a 325mmx32mm size bolted to SBG custom 2024 +351 aluminum hats. Rears employ the stock caliper and relocate it to accommodate a larger diameter SBG Jhook rotor. Fewer than 20 hours on track.
A Chase Bays master cylinder and proportioning valve send the fluid. ABS deleted.
Interior panels are replaced with LRB aluminum panels throughout; Nardi 330 mm wheel and NRG quick release hub (horn WORKS!), 2 Ultrashield racing seats, 5 way belts, 2.5lb Halon bottle and a Kirk bolt-in roll bar finish it out inside. Air bags removed.
Engine in chassis shows low compression in second rotor and leaks 25 ml oil after a 30 minute track run. My choice of rebuilder was a big mistake. I have been unable to identify the source of the leak; it’s NOT the rear main seal and it’s NOT the rear turbo oil drain boss. A Pettit CoolCharge III intercooler and duct, Greddy intake, stock throttle plate and an Xcess LIM feed air to the rotary. A .25” thick fabricated mica plate insulates the LIM from the radiant heat of the turbo. An AEM injector nozzle is wired and bolted on the Greddy but I never set it up.
Set up for 93 Pump gas, the Full Function Engineering rails feed two ID750’s and two ID2200’s.
A Borg Warner EFR 8374 IWG turbo and DEI blanket provide the boost and sit on a fabricated stainless exhaust manifold from Addicted Performance (out of business). 3.5” outlet to a single cylinder muffler ahead of the bumper; it’s relatively quiet and offers the characteristic whoosh. Fewer than 20 operating hours.
Car comes with a NEW-In-Box Mazda 13B keg from Ray Crowe to address the oil leak and compression issues. A new Comp Clutch lightweight flywheel is included. Motor Mounts are FFE.
The ECU is Apexi Power FC and a Commander handheld is included. Starter is 2 kw Banzai Racing rebuild.
Transmissions, because it comes with four. One fresh blueprinted rebuild with all new Mazda bearings, synchros and seals, including a new trick cromalloy input shaft from Liberty Gears to improve durability of third synchros/gear. Other three have failed 5th gear and third gear synchros and need a similar build to survive in these cars. Transmission mount and Differential brace is by Banzai Racing.
Three sets of Wheels and Tires are included in this package.
: Forgeline RS Competition 18” x9.5” +48, 67.1mm hub shod with a square tire setup of Toyo R888R’s 265/35-18’s. Date codes 3418, with 8 heat cycles. Less than half the tread used.
: Racing Hart square setup 18”x10.5” shod with New Bridgestone RE71RS in 285/30-18…forgot the Date Code but they were made in late ‘21
: Enkei Kojin Black staggered 17”x8”&9” +38mm, 67.1 mm hub with Firestone Firehawk Indy 500’s. Fewer than 2000 miles on these 360tw street tire.
