At what RPM are you hitting 20 PSI ? or full boost with this monster?

i don't consider this a "monster." it is a well mannered daily driver with upside. the frame of the turbos is the same size as the EFR8374.

the biggest difference is the size of the hotside wheel. the 8374 is only 5.91 average square inches while the 9180 is 7.14 square inches. hotside flow and thermal efficiency is objective ONE for the rotary as it requires 30% more flow than a piston engine which also means 30% more exhaust flow... AND the EGT is generally over 200 degrees hotter. combine this with a minimum of 20 degrees intake/exhaust overlap and you have a recipe for worrisome EMAP and EGT if you aren't running a plus sized hotside.

i have been logging EMAP since 2003. it is not uncommon for a single turbo rotary to generate exhaust manifold backpressure double the boost. when combined with overlap (intake and exhaust ports open at the same time) a significant amount of hot exhaust is pressured back into the intake charge. conditions for detonation.

all great concepts but here's the data from one of my typical logs:

4051 RPM, 4.4 PSI, roll into throttle TPS first print at 100%. time: 45.180 seconds

5213 RPM, 30.1 PSI, 100%TPS, time 47.091 seconds

1.911 seconds from 4.4 psi to 30.1 psi

all data is 3rd gear which adds to the amount of rpm from point A to B since boost is a function of time. if this were the typical dyno run in 4th the rpm range would be much shorter but the time would be the same.

this is at 2460 ft altitude. Bar pressure 13.6 psi, 8% less oxygen, about 40 rwhp altitude penalty, 3 inch downpipe and wastegate plumbed into downpipe.

EGTs at 30.1 psi were 1565 and 1609.
EMAP was 27.8, less than boost. max over boost at redline 50%.

my car accelerates at 11.6 mph per second in 3rd at 2460 ft altitude.
i have not been on the dyno with this turbo.

you do need a double disc clutch for anything over 500 rwhp for clamp and driveability. . the Exedy works very well and is A+ engineered..

Great price, great seller. If I was ready to buy the single turbo parts I would scoop this up.

let's have some fun with this... let's assume you are interested and the price is close to right for you... here's the new deal. i will sell the turbo for $1000 off the lowest legitimate advertised price you can find on the net from a USA vendor. further, you get the speed sensor, which is somewhere over $100, and the metal BOV cover thrown in on the deal. i pay shipping lower 48.
