T04S Turbo II vs. 330whp STi (Video)
Me and my friend went out and ran for fun the other day. He has a nice 05 STi with a Utec, exhaust, intake, water injection, and a few other well thought mods. Probably pushing around 330whp and 370wtq.
My FC has a T04s 60-1, haltech, 1600cc and 720cc injectors, Spearco FMIC, mild street port, ect. I was running 12 psi. http://racing.kcgeek.net/archives/Scooby_vs_BDoty.wmv right click please From the dig, I bogged incredibly bad with the borrowed drag radials and shut down early because of that car that is coming. I wouldn't have passed him anyways, he beat me too bad off the line. First race winner: STi No brake boosting on the roll races, 30-120 in less than 10 seconds. On the first race, he jumped the gun slightly. The second race is a good one though. Roll race winner: RX-7 |

Good race. It's hard to beat a 4wd from a dig. What is your redline? Sounds like your not revving that high, although I think I hear the buzzer. Also, who sings that song???

this was a stock STI or he had mods?

Those STi's like to get crazy, why didnt you let go of ssome psi in the tires and drop the clutch out of the hole would you spin the tires that bad? Or scared of the drivetrain holding? I heard T2s have a U-joint that likes to go bad if you drop the clutch to much.

As I already stated, I was on borrowed drag radials and bogged off the line. Once I bogged, I was out of boost and had to wait for the turbo to spool. By that time, he had enough of a lead for me to admit defeat. On street tires, I would have spun into 3rd gear. |

Nice setup man and good race. I agree, next time heat up the drag radials and run low psi and launch at a high rpm. Even if you spin a little you should kill that STI. (Slow Turbo Impostor) LOL nice car

turn it up to 15psi.. 408 hp.. that sti shouldnt be anywhere near you

I'm planning on running water injection sometime in the decently near future, so I should be getting back up where I need to be. |

hence your probly going lean... add more fuel 6-8 RPM or in the 13-17 PSI range start with 2% and see what the wideband reads |

wow you should have raped him dude... wtf was wrong with your car? Even at 12 psi you should have killed him based on power to weight ratio and the fact that you have the advantage on a roll with rwd...

yea you should have killed him, i am dead even with a 330whp evo in my s14 that has 280whp. considering you had 400whp at 15psi, you should have been at 330-340whp at 12psi...

Well, you guys can imagine all you want, but I assure you the car was running great at the time. The first race he jumped the gun alittle bit.
If you consider that its a huge laggy turbo in the RX-7 and a small quick spooling turbo in a STi with 360wtq, it makes more sense. (Especially from a 30mph roll in 2nd gear) He pulls some length at the beginning and I continue to pull after that. And I like how all of you guys first assume that something was messed up with my car and not that his car is damn fast. ;) |
well then he has more then 330whp. it just does not make sense to me, you should have been at least at 330whp at 12 psi so it would be no contest at 800 lbs or so less. id give credit but something does not add up. either he had more power or you had less. in 3rd gear you should have pulled car lengths ahead...

stock turbo 2 test weight is around 2700. i know an evo weighs just under 3400 test weight. im not postive on the sti but it should be around 3500 lbs or so. here is the curb weight for both the evo and sti.

You are seriously bench racing. With street tires and 12psi I was trapping at 114-115mph, at 15psi the previous owner trapped at 122mph. Anyways, I'm not going to get into a lame ass arguement about a race that happened some 2 years ago. BTW - A stock 88 Turbo II probably weighs around 2,800lbs atleast. STIs weigh around 3,300-3,400lbs. |
