No the other owner here Matt drove, and I negotiated the races. The civic ran a 10.86 in testing, so that means my car should run pretty good on a timed 1/4 mile.

Basically the negotiations are everything. You could run a 14 second car against a 9 second car and win if you negotiate right. Our car was faster, and we negotiated better in the end.

You'll have to excuse me now...I have a pink car to flat black now... :D

So which FC was this? The Silver one or the one you have listed as Drag on your site?

Congrats!!!

Tessai 01-16-06 03:05 PM

Yeah, pics of the FC... and engine bay!

I find it hard to believe a D-series SOHC ran 10's unless we're talking a shit-load of money and / or extensive lightening to get it to run that fast.
Basically, it's not street-legal even in the broadest sense?

Unless a Hondata (or anyone of those piggy back crap) has gotten signfiicantly complex in the last several years, this implies full stand-alone EMS to run that kinda power.

The SOHC is not going to produce power like that "stock".
So we're talking like a $10k motor?
That's full built - pistons, con rods, crank, etc.
Even throwing money at a D-series SOHC motor is a waste of time - no one wants it.
B-series / H-series DOHC stuff is still in hot demand.

The ECU it's running is a stocker with a neptune, or something like that. Programmable, and it still has a WB02 on it, minus the controller. Most of the guys that were running the sportsman class in NHRA this past year were running Hondata, and a handfull of them are in the 9's. The car is not near street legal at all, nor is my FC. The D16 is fully built, minus sleeves. Full head work is also there. I would guess street value of the engine work and parts to be about $6-7K

The FC that raced was my white one, which is listed under the Project Drag FC3S on our site. I will have some pics uploaded to our site tomorrow of both cars. The pics of the FC are a bit outdated.

i do admit, i watch a civic hatch someday. Some NA maybe shoot for about 200hp. Mostly for some spirited back road driving, just something fun to toss around thats FF

I will say that, the only 300hp car I've seen get 30mpg+ was a CRX.

They are incredibly good engines.

C5/C6 Vettes can get over 30mpg, and they have well over 300hp.

Can. If the wind is right, the stars are aligned, and the throttle is barely being depressed.

Amagi82 01-17-06 02:10 AM

haha, still though, that's damn impressive for a big powerful V8.

Ford's lucky to get 12mpg with their V8s.

my mom's van, 2002 E-150 V8 Triton, gets about 36mpg and it has a 13 gallon tank.

...down a steep hill, with a tailwind, and drafting off a semi-truck 3 inches in front, when the planets align on February 29th?

No. we actually went to mexico in it. from salinas, ca to el paso, tx, we only stopped about 2-3 times for gas, then from el paso, tx to guadalajara, jalisco about 3-4 times. i'm talking from experience, not throwing numbers. oh yeah, this was with 5 people in the van, lugage, mini fridge, and two 11inch TV's, oh yeah and blinds  btw, that was with the overdrive on. didn't cost us 38k for nothing.
