ls1 killed, sort of..

my house mate has a '00 ls1 berlina(commodore) with intake, cam, injectors,ls2 manifold, putting out 350rwhp and monster torque plus stage 2 shift etc. anyway he absolutley destroys me off the line, traction hard with the teins and 18's. but from anywhere else i'll beat him to the speed liniter @ 180 kph. anyway always good fun to remind him that my ride was cheaper and still gets better fuel economy.:ylsuper:

Your car gets better gas mileage than his?

GStypeR 01-15-08 01:12 PM

haha, :bsflag: about the gas milage..........

nice kill btw..

bennyess 01-16-08 12:11 AM

:shocking: he cant keep his foot out of the wall, his injectors are 650cc and it runs a bit rich too

Tanjo 01-16-08 03:34 AM

Wait wait wait. He has EIGHT 650cc injectors? No way. You have to mean 65 lb/hr or something. ( I dont really know how much that would be, but it sounds WAY more feasible than 650cc's....)

GoodfellaFD3S 01-16-08 08:10 AM

65 lb/hr is basically 650cc.

XxMerlinxX 01-16-08 09:12 AM

Why the hell would he have 65lbs/hr injectors? If he does, he's supporting a lot more hp than you are. For my mods on my LS1, I needed 42lbs/hr, and that's for over 500hp, so if he's got 65lbs/hr, then he must be way up there.

He did say it was running a little rich :rlaugh:

I car sat (for a deploying buddy) a bone stock LS1 Camaro for 6 month, and put about 500 miles on it.

Thats not allot, but I checked the gas mileage several times, and it was about exactly what I am getting now in my 13b-rew powered FC.

About 19-20 MPG avg, I drive exactly the same in both cars.

he has plans for a charger but, if he ever gets there is another question, i'll have my ecu, fmic, fuel system and t04z before he has his blown, and i'll still beat him.

the lsx engines are *vastly* more efficient than rotaries.. they really are neat motors.. id go so far as to call the ls1 the best engine design in history, overall is debatable, but in its class it is absolutely unmatched imo. make fun of its pushrods all you want, it does everything and does it all well.

.....and personally, i see no excuse for a 1.3 engine making 180hp to be getting the same mileage as a 5.7 making power in the 300's..

:D

habu2 01-18-08 11:17 AM

+1 - although I'd qualify it and say "the best production engine design"

Yup, excellent motor.

And for the guy that got the same gas mileage in his RX7 as the Fbody, remember, the Camaro is lugging around 1000lbs more ass too.

And 65lb injectors are a bit much for a bolton motor. Stockers are good to atleast 450hp, and they're 26-28lb. I'd say he'd be running a bit rich too. I've ran smaller injectors on supercharged engines before.
