Car: 2001 Z06 Corvette
Stock with low gas and light driver.
Location: So cal, while visiting my parents house for Xmas.

Well, I was out being young and mischevious again, just testing out my semi new tires on some of the roads around where I live, and I was having a grand old time.

But I was running low on fuel. Oh well I said, and kept driving. Finally went over to another road near my area, ran my car through there once, and then hopped on the freeway to go get gas.

Well, I got into it getting on the freeway, and got on the brakes at the end of the onramp. I figured 90 was probably a little fast, even at 330, or 4am.

So im cruising down the freeway, and this stupid CRX is just not moving any faster, or trying to get out of the way. Granted, he was doing 70, but id rather do 80 when theres only 5 sets of lights behind me, and none of them are cops. About that time I got the low gas warning. 30 miles worth...at 70mph (or around that).

So I pull around him, and get on it to about 85, and a guy that was behind me took it as an invite to play. Cool. Im game.

So its this guy in a new Dodge Charger RT thing (I swear that thing is satan spawn...ugly body. No where near what Dodge made it to be in the 60's and 70's). With outrageously large wheels no less. One of those guys that buys extra chrome trim that didnt originally come with the vehicle. Anyways, so he pulls up next to me, and guns it. So me, having already downshifted from passing, Im ready. I punch it in 3rd at about 3500, and there is no contest. I get back to where he is at about 110, pass him around 130, and by 150, hes way behind. So in the sake of not ending up in someones trunk (there were other cars out, just not in my lane at the time) I tap my brakes lightly 3 or 4 times, and shut down. Well he wants another go.

Alrighty then. So we line up punch it again, this time I was revving about 3700 in 3rd, doing around 75 or 80. Pretty much perfect for the start of a highway pull. I hear him punch it and I follow suit, Pull all the way to 6500 in 3rd, shift to 4th, and pull it to 140, he is behind me at this point, but he wants to keep going so I decide to go for that next gear. I hit 5th, put my foot down again and he starts to dissapear. Around 150-160 I shut down and flash hazards.

This time he pulls up next to me we both shut down, somwehere around 85, and gives me a thumbs up. I turn on the interior lights and do the same for him. He then speeds off into the night, and I go get gas. I kinda like races like that...ones that end in a thumbs up, and no cops/accidents.

I dont want to know how much gas was left in it at that point. But im glad I didnt have to push it.

Question about those cars though (the Dodge Charger), where are they limited? It looked like he got to about 145 and then just hit a wall. I havent ever driven one though, so I dont know.

Anyways, it was a good christmas present to me at least. Hope your Xmas went just as well.

 

Not limited afaik. I took down a V6 charger in my FB.

I took my car out monday mid morning. Played with a newer maxima 06 or 07 lol.

He kept pacing me on the left side and there was a slow *** van in my lane so i kept it in 3rd cause i knew the van was gonna switch lanes. To my luck he did and i blasted 3rd, right into 4th up to about 105mph. The maxima was wayy the **** back there. I slowed down to about 55mph and he did a fly by. About 1/2 mile later i saw 2 cops on the side shooting their radar. THANK GOD i didnt extend that little speed run otherwise i would have gotten hit. I had my radar off the entire time. I have a bad habit of leaving the thing off when i go for drives. I should hardwire that thing.

 

Yeah, gotta love that not getting caught bit.

 

yea the r/ts aren't too bad... I think they are limited to something like that, but the srt8's those are pretty quick for what they are....

 

I find it unlikely that the Chargers are limited, probably has more to do with the fact that they are so unaerodynamic and BOXY. Good kill.

I was out sunday and i was in front of one at a stop light. I have a habit of checking who's behind me from time to time and when i saw in my rear view mirror, i saw this big *** grill.

I was like wtf is that?? I dont know if the guy raised the car or had bigger wheels on it but it was bigger than a normal charger. That or my car is really small. My car is dropped pretty good so that might be the case.

Those cars are big as hell.

 

haha a similar thing happened to me once. in teh fc on the highway a 96ish integra comes up through traffic trying to mess with me.my wife was in the passenger seat and even she laughed and said the teg has no chance (its funny cuz her car is a 99 teg) so i start revving and acting dumb like im gonna race him and ****, less then a mile don the road we see him pulled over by a cop, rofl
