Oil Pan Gasket?
I have owned a 1985 for fifteen years and need to replace the gasket. There does not appear to be enough clearance to drop the oil pan. What's the easiest method to gain clearance?

Unbolt the two engine mounts, chain the engine by its lifting tabs and hoist it up 5 inches or so.

Thanks Mario, Any chance you can tell me wherer to find a new ignition switch for my '85. Mine dies and I installed a pushbtton to start the car. My ignition switch is operational and only the last (start) position does not make contact. I have been using the key to turn the switch to the "On" position, then the pushbutton to start the car. No hurry to replace it because the button works fine and it will not start the car without the key in the "On" position.

I would try one of our Vendors but there may be a quick solution for your problem. I just have to dig for the thread...back in a bit....
Found it, but the pics are dead.....again....I'll re-insert them tonight. Suggestions re: Starter Short... Only, it wasn't a starter short, as you will find as you read that ancient thread. edit: The thread has been fixed. And I saw a tip I had forgotten that should help me now that my '83 has suddenly "forgotten" the detents to keep the fuel pump circuit energized. |
