New to the scene
Hey guys, my name is Hayden and I’m 17. I have my dad’s 93 competition yellow FD and I’m looking to rebuild it but it’s gonna need some work lol. Dad is talking about selling it but said if I got it working it’s mine to keep. I will greatly appreciate any help I can get as this will be a huge task for me as I’ve never worked on any rotary before and since it’s my first ever rebuild why not go big with this car? I’m very excited about this and will (hopefully) update as I make progress.
This seems like a massive undertaking. Let alone for someone who's full time job is going to high school still. If you have a part time job, you have even less time. Good thing you're 17 and have almost limitless energy!
Why does it need to be rebuilt? Can you define "rebuild it"? Like are you envisioning taking every nut and bolt off the car or does the engine have no or low compression and that needs rebuilding?
The beauty of RX7s is that someone, some where has probably done or fixed whatever you need or want to do and it's probably documented some where. I will tell you now, when I was 17 I was extremely lucky in having my father as a resource to help me (he was a mechanic by trade). However, at that time, the internet is not what it is today and far more information is much more readily available.
Good luck. Don't sweat it if you break something or can't figure it out. It's just nuts and bolts and money. Lots of money.
