Mostly I'm just here to help people since I have a lot of free time these days. This isn't my original account and you'll likely run into my old posts quite a bit, since there is roughly 25,000 of them here over the last 21 years. The forum isn't nearly as active as it once was though, 10+ years ago it had quite literally 100 times more traffic, the 5 or so posts a day doesn't give me much to do.

It was put on blocks a while back as a future project car. Time passed and while the car body has never been wrecked, sitting without starting, rust, water are clearly a problem. It is now a project car requiring lots of work or a parts car for a younger person.

gotcha florida is a pretty unforgiving place for the elements. if you have pics and a price in mind i may be interested if it's not too far gone.
Mixed bag on the condition, with shell good and other parts questionable. I do have pics, but would like to update somewhat. Price, which I have not thought too much about, would be very flexible. Do we need to move this discussion to either private or my email?
FYI i picked up their car and plan to restore it. It's an 86 sport model, one of the lightest model FCs ever produced with the aero kit, sunroof delete, manual windows, aluminum hood, no storage bins but upgraded 5 lug and 4 pot brakes with 16" wheels. The engine is locked, as were the brakes and just about everything that moves, but i have been working things free slowly, though the whole drivetrain will likely need to be ripped and out and replaced with other/rebuilt units. the Pewter color is original and one i never even knew existed, quite a rare while still 100% original(minus the radio) car this is.
I do believe they made the right choice selling it, it needs a fair amount of TLC to get it road worthy again but the car is worth the effort. i already have an S4 block in good condition ready to be assembled to go into it.

Totally thrilled that Ben, who has the skills and interest, was willing to take on restoring this car! No doubt that he will do the great job that we would have liked to do. Looking forward to tracking the progress and seeing a great result.
after making little progress with everything together i started stripping the engine down and sprayed some solvent into the engine, letting it work it's magic. i got the engine turned about 90 degrees of one revolution but it's not super cooperative so still having little faith that this engine will ever live again. i just work on it a little every so often, working things loose.
worst case i pull the engine and transmission and just toss in rebuilt ones. it will likely need a rear end, hub bearings, brakes, new fuel system and a handful of electronics replaced most of which i already have with a few exceptions like CPU for flashers/turns/horn/buzzer. most everything else can be swapped or repaired.
