just saying hi to everyone.. few questions, how hard is it to https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...8b11533be6.png 1985 Mazda Rx7 GSL SE change one of the shocks for the hatch cover, and what is the best oil for oil change? Valvoline? regular or synthetic? thank you all Kenny |
Welcome to the forum Kenny!! That's a really nice Sparkling Black Metallic GSL-SE! Do you know any of the car's history?
Regarding the hatch shocks, they are extremely simple to do. I replace one side at a time and keep a support lock on the one I'm not replacing so that the hatch doesn't drop. Oil brand is subject to preference, though most use snd recommend conventional oil. I have used Castrol GTX 20W50 for 24 years in my RX-7's and have been more than happy with it. |
Welcome to forum .lovely 7 you have there . I prefer 25/70 Penrite oil in Aus because of very hot temps here in summer

Hatch struts are pretty simple to remove and replace. They can be rebuilt to retain originality. A little more expensive and time consuming, but they will still be the original struts.
