New FB owner!!
Drove to Vegas a few months ago to pick up this 1984 or 1985 FB and trailered it all the way back to Phoenix where I live. She's beat up for sure but its a solid car for $2200!!! Supposedly the motor only had 15 hours on it but it has definitely sat for a few years and it misfired pretty bad when I was able to get it running for the few seconds that I did. I am not 100% used to rotaries yet so I couldn't tell you if it sounded like it was running on one or two rotors but it was misfiring for sure. I noticed what seems to be a front coolant seal leak and have added that to the list of things to do, though my question is, is it even worth trying to get it to run and idle before attacking that issue? Or is it something that is going to prevent me from getting it to idle? Any help would be appreciated as I am a newbie when it comes to rotaries, I understand regular cylinder combustion engines but these have always been a little confusing to me so I bought one as a challenge and do not regret it (yet) lol. Looking forward to learning and talking to new people!
Will do, I bought a set of fresh ones and havent had the time recently to play around with it. I ended up dropping the fuel tank as well considering there was about 10 gallons of old race fuel in it and the interior of the tank is pretty rusty. I'll be getting the tank redone soon by a local shop and then replace the fuel pump since I was only getting about 2.5 PSI from the feed line into the regulator and I have a spare on hand and then I will try to see what happens! Thanks
Thanks! I wanted to challenge myself and learn something new as well as get some seat time in at some local events once I start to figure the car out, from what I understand the car was previously setup for autox events. Thats most likely what i'll be starting with in it since theres a lot of those events near me that happen pretty often. Eventually i'd like to get it out on track in some sort of competitive setting but I have a long ways to go as a driver and with the car!

I think it will be a great car for that! It will be a great car to learn it and you will have fun autocrossing! I autocrossed an 85 GS that was mostly stock about 15 years or so ago and it did very well. The tires were my limiting factor and I would have done much better were it not for the tires. These cars are an absolute blast on the track!
