Looking forward to owning one soon!

Hi everyone! I'm a senior in college and I have been looking forward to owning an RX7 for a long time. I figured since I'm graduating and have saved up enough, it's time to learn as much as I can before taking the plunge! Joined here to begin that journey. Looking forward to meeting and learning from yall!

Welcome to the forum!

Do you have any other car experience? What generation of rx7 are you looking for?

I have some wrenching experience on my old bmw but based off what I have been learning about these cars, the only kind of knowledge I'm going to be transferring from that experience is undoing bolts and checking my oil levels frequently! I'm specifically looking at the FC, I've been head over heels for the 10th anniversary since I was a kid! With how prices have been trending I figured the timing is right and I should get one before I can never afford one again lol. I do quite like every generation of the RX7 though! I think they all have awesome qualities (love the racing beat FB from IMSA GTU racing too, I have a slot car of it and they're down the road from me in Anaheim!)

Is there anything besides apex seals and oil consumption I should be really looking for? I've heard about certain problems with the Irons (outer groove of the iron which I have heard is for the water jacket), but yeah, I'm rambling too much. To make a TLDR: Love the FC and i'm looking forward to using it as a way to learn more about wrenching on these cars and how to drive them as well!

Start in the 2nd generation sub-forum. Read the stickies at the top and make use of the search function to find specific topics. The best thing you can do BEFORE you buy one is understand what you're after, what to look for, and how to fix problems yourself. They're very rewarding cars to own and drive, but they do need lots of love and care, being nearly 40 years old at this point.
