JDM in the USA !!!

Hello everyone, just stopping by to introduce myself! My name is Anthony and I recently purchased a 1992 Efini RX7 Type R imported from Japan to the US! Only 28k miles and pretty much OEM with the exception of wheels, coilovers, and some interior bits. Looking forward to my new journey into the rotary world! Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Great looking car. I also have a 1992 Type R, in Florida. Even with the low miles, take a good look over everything. One important bit is the coolant system, the rubber hoses get hard and brittle with time and heat! Enjoy.

Been under the car a few times since purchased back at the beginning of April. So far i've found a couple of very minor leaks.

First was the power steering hose that runs from the reservoir to the pump. I think its a 2 1/2in long 5/8 return line. Replaced it last week and problem is solved.

Now I am currently seeing oil around the drivers side where the trans bolts to the engine. Thinking its either the oil pan gasket, rear main, or something higher up but can't confirm.
The car is going to a certified tech Wednesday for diagnosis of that leak... hopefully its not too involved as id like to have it fixed quickly.
I drive this car a few times a week to the MANY car shows in and around the Omaha area.

I hope you have a mechanic familiar with the RX7 near by. If not it will benefit you greatly to diagnose and repair on your own. These are special cars that require special eyes. Post your issues in the new member technical section and i'm sure you'll get some help.

Yes, make sure it is a rotary specific mechanic if your not doing the work yourself. Car looks clean!

I do not know the specifics of importing as I did not import this car myself. I purchased it through an import dealer in Wisconsin. The owner is a good friend of mine and knows this business inside and out, not to mention his inventory is one of the cleanest in the country. Check him out at jdmautoimports.com and contact him with any questions!
