I've been lurking for quite a while, but decided it was time to join! I bought my '79 RX-7 last year as my first project car. It was in relatively good shape, but needs to be thoroughly refreshed. At first I started with little things, like replacing decaying OMP and vacuum hoses, then later gaskets. Now I'm in the middle of my first rebuild to reseal the rather leaky engine. I've been doing everything myself and it's been a bit of an overwhelming experience, but once I start, I like to finish! My plan is to keep the engine stock (thanks CA smog), but do some suspension and interior upgrades. I'm an engineer at heart, so this car has been a lot of fun, even if also a bit stressful.
Here's a picture from when I just got it- it's on stands at the moment with the engine out.
welcome to the forum. really nice SA u got there. what's the build date? the early ones still had the hood prop on the right side. let's see more pix. hope to see a build thread on this.
Very nice! I'm a new member with a 1979 RX-7 S, original owner, purchased in Victoria B.C. Only about 45,000 miles, near showroom condition. Sorry I didn't find this site earlier ... now getting too old to keep my little gem, so must sell. So far I can't navigate to any "sales" section here.
You don't see many Daytona Blue cars. They were fairly rare even when new. Cosmetically, it looks great. Must be originally from CA. Yes, would love to see more pics. Maybe start a build thread in the 1st Gen section.
Fine looking FB. Have fun making it perfect. I had a 83 GSL SE. Never should have sold it. Didn't realize what I had. Now I have a 94 FD with 12,000 original miles. Had 5,000 when it I bought it 7 years ago.. Always doing something to it. Worse than a sail boat. Keep the car.
