Smile White FD - Stock Spoiler? No Spoiler? '99 Spoiler?

Pretty much what the title says!

I was hoping for some constructive criticism and suggestions on what spoiler options y'all recommend for a White FD.

Right now I have the stock spoiler:

Name: IMG_1837small.jpg
Views: 3748
Size: 70.3 KB

I'm having a hard time finding white FD's with '99 front-bumpers, but without any spoilers, but here are 2 nice pics of what a white FD looks like without a spoiler at all.

Size: 128.6 KB

Name: rx79.jpg
Views: 2132
Size: 64.9 KB

And now for the '99 spoiler.

If I GET a '99 spoiler, I would want to get the Carbon-Fiber accented spoiler that VIS Racing offers. I used to work with VIS at my old job before the Navy, so I have a major hook-up on the price...

Here's what it looks like:

What do y'all think?

I appreciate your input!

Thanks guys!

'99 spec all the way, especially if you have a hookup with VIS.

i love my CF 99spec spoiler...... only because i've always wanted it

but i must admit..... my car looked better wingless

my suggestion would be to go wingless and get a tail light cover from shine, re-amemiya or esprit if you can find one

Thanks man. I'm starting to picture how baddass it would look too. And it's not common, as far as I know, either. ^_^

Damn it LINK, you're not helping! I feel so torn!

My only PRO VS. CON when it comes to spoiler VS. no spoiler...is that here in California...having no spoiler MIGHT help reduce my attention to cops...

Somehow I have a feel it's not going to matter much either way though...... lol XD

lol

I'm not so fond of tail-light covers....do you have pics of the one you're referring to?

Right now I'm about 70% '99 Spoiler....30% Wingless in my head.....

haha, sorry to throw a curveball at you man... but simple answer is... IMHO.. wingless looks better... but 99spec with CF is the only wing i have and would get (smaller in scale compare to mazdaspeed wing, actually makes the car look more buff and wider when you look from the rear)

wingless + tailight cover pwns tho

esprit (hard to find, sticks the furthest back) . pics taken from Kai's recent post

Re-Amemiya

Shine (not sure if they still make it tho)

Wingless and 99 spec wings all have pro's and cons...

THey both look good and bad at certain angles. IMO with a darker colored FD you can get away with the wingless look..

Light colors seems like its missing something. Just my opinion

White is the one FD above all others I think a wing looks GOOD on.

Performance aspects would say get the 99 spec spoiler. It actually allows the car to go faster around a track, and isn't huge like a GT wing.

The people who don't understand sports cars will automatically (and wrongfully) dub you as a ricer with the GT wing, so the 99 spec is in a happy medium of class and performance.

I'm thinking I'm going to go with the '99 spoiler.

I'm gonna try to get in touch with my boss at my old job, and ask him to order me one today.

I think he quoted me at roughly $350ish total, including shipping.

Buwahahahah! ^_^

I'll post pics once it's all re-painted....and I'll DEFINITELY post pics once I get my WORKS rims on it, once I ship it back up here to San Diego!

P.S. LINK, I actually really do like that SHINE Auto little rear spoiler/light cover....if my car was a darker color, I'd go with the complete Burnout Kit, fenders, and that rear spoiler/light cover.

I don't think the Burnout Kit looks good on white, though.

I've always been partial to the black on white contrast though.

^_^

Dude, I'm having the same problem! I've got a 93-95 wing and a '99 wing... neither are on the car! I never thought I'd say it, but I'm starting to like the wingless look. But, if you can get that CF wing from VIS, I'd go that route... speaking of which, can you hook me up with a CF center from VIS??

Still wingless...

yeah, i totally agree... Burnout looks the best on black, then darker colors. white with Burnout looses the expensive look

So much for ordering the spoiler TODAY.

Busy Duty Day followed by my radar being retarded during my maintenance time = no personal time at ALL today. >_<

He's open on Saturdays if I'm not mistaken...I'm gonna try to call him tomorrow to get a new price quote, and check availability.

If you guys are interested in ANY of the VIS Racing/AIT Racing/Extreme Dimensions body components that they have for FC's, FD's, whatever....PM me, I'll give you the phone number for my old job, and hook you up with my boss directly.

:]

damn i want a 99 spec spoiler but cant afford the real deal anytime soon (just order a ton of other ****, plus some other reasons)

my white 94 is wingless, had a stocker on but was ghetto-ly on and ripped off while being towed home after purchase.

Not that it matters since this thread is a couple of months old.

But:
I prefer wingless. The 99 is nice and I actually had one on (CF actually) but had it removed soon after installation because it seemed for the younger crowd. Something a young kid would drive and I was going for the updated stock/classy look.

I have never cared for 93-95 stock wing not even back in 92 when i saw my first FD.
