It's been awhile, but lets see if I can remember this. There's 2 bolts and 2 nuts on top that are visible. There should be one on the side which is also visible. Then under the fiberglass housing that holds the actual light (which you'll probably have to remove to get to these bolts), there's, I believe, 2 more bolts. After that, there's one more near the back of the headlight motor which is also visible. That probably made no sense.

Jim...any progress on the lights?

MAGICO 03-19-03 06:11 AM

I too am quiet interested in what your final product looks like. I am considering trying this myself. Dont give in to the negativity. :)

Brackets and components are finished, I've been holding off on the fiberglass until I have some other bigger projects out of the way. Should be starting in again towards the end of the month, or in early April.

Of course timeframe may turn out to be irrelevant, because I may end up just having a kit made for my own car and call it good. I still haven't decided whether or not to bulk-manufacture a kit for general availability. I may just do a small run, but we'll see.

Astro 03-19-03 06:57 PM

well...judging by your descriptions, i'd be into them.
Keep me informed if ya don't mind.

OneBadRx7 03-23-03 12:05 AM

How does this shit relate to RX7's, shouldnt you be posting this on a DSM forum? By looking at the pics you posted you dont have the skills to make a good looking kit that the 3rd gen guys would buy, sorry.

eagletsi 05-29-03 10:20 PM

My headlight production is almost ready to begin. I just received the last of my supplies. THis is my first set ever made so they obviously arent the most intricate design i know. And there are already an abundance of sleak headlight kits available for rx-7's so i probaly wouldnt make much $$$$ if i decided to make kits for them.....and by the way my price for the kits is around $300 and that includes everything. I'l post a pic of it finished just for the hell of it when i finish my photo shoot of them

yeah, sounds good to me! if your selling the same thing for 1/2 the price....its a mod everyone wants but just doensnt want to pay 1G for it...i think youll do good.

OneBadRx7 05-30-03 12:00 AM

Hehe, I like your little "title" under your name....sleak headlight designer...ummm its SLEEK. Anyways, like I stated above, you havent shown the RX-7 owners anything pertaining to their cars. Looking at the plans for the talon lights you are making I would rather spend an extra $500 and get the RotaryExtreme light kit with a whole lot better lights, better construction and professional looks BUT I will keep my mind open until I see your actual RX-7 kit if it ever happens. Good luck with it.

volley1 05-30-03 02:34 PM

I think that a lot of people have better things to spend money on than a light kit for 1000 bucks. Like a pfc, exhaust system, intercooler, brake upgrade, suspension, you get the idea. I like the look of the conversion kits, but until my car is absolutely perfect mechanically I could never justify spending that much money on a mod that is just for looks. I wish I had the money to, but I don't and won't for a long time.

rotaryextreme 05-30-03 02:59 PM

Just for looks? I don't make my headlight kit just for looks. Look at the video yourself

Compare that to your stock headlight and you know why people want it and it's money well spent.

You'll have to realize that a lot of FD owners have had their cars for a little longer than a month and might have already done whatever performance mods that they have intended to to. Many people are happy with their car's performance and are looking to enhance the car in other ways. As Chuck has pointed out, his kit is more than just an exterior mod to the car, it has much better lighting than the stock system.

Yes. And you should see what a deer will do to a FD.

volley1 05-30-03 08:45 PM

I can imagine a deer would demolish an fd. I was thinking about that after I posted, that most people have had their cars for a while and have the performance mods. Even if I was happy with the performance of my car I don't know if I could justify to myself spending that kind of money on a light kit. Although, I just spent 600 bucks on gauges for my car, so I guess I don't have too much room to say anything. Good luck getting it completed. I think a lower priced option would sell well for the fd. I would buy one for 600 or under.

OneBadRx7 05-31-03 01:09 AM

So where are you pics of the work you have done on an actual FD setup??
