Repair of FD headlight covers

Has anyone successfully repaired mounting tabs on headlight covers? I have a pair that the mounting tabs have busted off, but the paint is still great on them. I keep looking at them and think what a waste. I know new ones are only like $80 from Ray, but there has got to be something I can do to repair these, i would hate to toss them when they look so good.

I know people have used jb weld and such to re-attach tabs, but mine are completely missing, I would need to come up with a way to re-create the mounting tabs from scratch.

your proposed solution works. fabricate some plastic pieces and j b weld for reinforcement.

Cut some thin metal and plexi it to the cover.

Jeff did you have success with any of the suggestions provided? I am in the same boat as you and am willing to try and fix them.

You can buy aftermarket replacement as well.

I picked up a set of used already painted covers, so i havent done anything yet. One of mine had 3 of the tabs intact, and the broken off piece was still on the headlight. I use plastic epoxy to repair that one. The other cover has no tabs at all, so thats the one i will have to mess with.

All of mine are broke. Oh well I might just convert them and not hassle with it.
