Hey guys I am new here, I am hoping I can get some pointers

My 12 yo son has nagged me into rebuilding my old series 1 '79 rx7

it must have spent a lot of time in the sun in its previous life 'cause its interior plastic parts are severley faded, almost to white in places. (rear internal side panels etc).

Being on a seriously small budget I am looking for ways to recolour it back to the original burgandy. I thought maybe a dye or permanent colouring agent of some sort. I assume paint will simply peel of and look nasty.

Can any one point me in the right direction ?

My dash is cracked and useless as well but I have found a purrfect one for about $A300 in the original colour, so I am keen to keep the colour the same.

It seems VHT make a spray on vinyl dye suitable for the job.. I will give that a try and see how it looks

if any one has had experiance with this and can give advice please don't hesitate

I tried a cheaper spray on vinyl paint. Looks good and sticks very well to vinyl and SOME of the plastic pieces. No matter how well the rear side pieces were sanded/cleaned the paint would bubble and spider. The seats look way better now and so do the doorpanels. I used black to cover some of the gray I had. It also covered the few red pieces I had also. I hope that helps some. Try it out, take your time and make sure to clean the area and mask everything off real good...
