man all those lights a so beatiful, when i get my FC in 2006 and my FD in 2007(both are gonna be right hand drive) i wanna do that sleepy eye mod to both. those look better than any embedded ones could, just have to mount them really damn good the car (secure covers too) so no peices going flying off at 240kph+ i'm gonna be taking my cars to :D

No, it was a one of a kind prototype that was created by ASP and sold/given to Wael (which has since been pasted around).

YayeR 10-29-05 12:27 AM

I wish someone would just post a how-to. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I prefer this style of lights and for them to work with HID is just ideal.

M104-AMG 02-23-06 03:08 PM

I would just do this kit, which is doing HID correctly.

That kit looks horrible IMHO.

M104-AMG 02-23-06 09:37 PM

They look very similar to me.

Herblenny 02-23-06 11:06 PM

Neil,

Did you get a pair of those for your FD? Well, I think they are similar but Wael's lights are smaller and converted to be sleepy eye look. If the other unit uses smaller projectors and place them in same line, I would totally get it.

blwnrtr93 03-06-06 05:33 PM

wael's kit is phat. a clone of this kit will be in the works for my fd after i get it running again. i think i'll go ahead and make a bezel from the factory headlight surround and possibly make a mold for it for those of you interested. it make take a little while for me to get around to it with a baby on the way, but i'll get it. once i get it done i may be interested in producing these kits for a group buy or something. seems like there is enough interest to make it worthwhile.

shout out to phil... thanks for all the help with the neverending project.

wael.el-dasher@efini.net 04-27-06 10:13 PM

I think I have photos of the inside of the motors...I'll check and post them.

wael.el-dasher@efini.net 04-27-06 10:31 PM

I found them...should I post the photos and end the speculations, thus unleashing a wave of pop up headlight resurgence, a renewed interest in this baffling yet childishly simple engineering marvel. So simple that it borders on stupidity...

Okay, okay...here you go. Please note the relationship of the black insulation material on the outer ring to that of the white key in the center.

wael.el-dasher@efini.net 04-27-06 10:33 PM

If anyone makes money off my solution I expect a donation to my favorite charity :)

Wael, do you remember what model of PIAA lights you used for the highs?

wael.el-dasher@efini.net 04-28-06 08:51 PM

They were called something like Optilux by Hella for the HID, I can't remember the PIAA I used for high beam. I will check if I still have the box.

wael.el-dasher@efini.net 04-28-06 08:59 PM

Try this link for the projectors

http://www.rallylights.com/Optilux/optilux_DEX_HID.asp

Even though they're sold as fog lights, believe me, they are very comparable to the HID's on the S2000. They are fantastic with an excellent cut off and an excellent range. They are better than the Hella driving lights most stick into the RE-Amemyia sleek kit.

cheers

W

Herblenny 04-29-06 12:58 AM

Wael,
I would also like to know which Piaa lights you used.

This year, I'm definitely going to try to replica your work!
Since you sold your car to fritz, I tried to buy it 2-3 times from different sellers.. Kept missing them... I think they are now sold to someone else.

wael.el-dasher@efini.net 04-29-06 10:05 AM

Who owns them now?

Fumanchu 04-29-06 05:20 PM

Are you still on the s2ki.com Wael? I haven't seen you post in a long time.

Now that I have owned an s2000 for over a year, I must say these HID's that I had on this kit were pretty much the same. They performed better than EVERY kit I saw made for the FD.

And how are you Gil? I haven't seen you around in a long time either. Blast from the past man.

I'm doing just fine, and it's nice to see you too, Jeff. Still have my garage queen FD and S5 TII daily driver, but I lost interest in the forum - same shit, all day, EVERY day. That, plus I picked up another job, and what time I have left, I spend w/ the new girlfriend, so I'm hardly online any more.

Main reason I've been here the past couple days is, your pal Ramy ("FDNutbag") coaxed me out of retirement and told me to make a guest appearance, and I'm obliging him, for now. ;)

wael.el-dasher@efini.net 05-05-06 09:49 PM

Something must be wrong with my topic reply notification. Sorry Fumanchu. That blue rx-7 with the headlights I made looks excellent. Almost makes me want to buy another FD, its hard though. Not sure I can justify.

Good to see there is still interest in the car. Its such a pretty design.

Darn it looks like my secret was cracked after about 2yrs. I guess I should have never posted the fact that they were infinity lights, in my sig.

Oh well, I sold the car anyway.

SayNoToPistons 05-23-06 03:04 PM

^ theyre the highbeem projectors of the 2001-2003 Infiniti QX4 lights correct? lol. i remember your post.

Does that mean you are going to make two styles? Those being the one like this and the higher one that you have already made the prototype for?

Ain't going to happen. If you really want something like this, you need to look at buying the Knightsports kit.
