Hey I just figured it might be helpful for people new to smaller cockpit cars to have a list of what seats will and will not fit. I know some seat companys or the shops that sell them to you will not take returns if there is an attempted install.

Ive seen an 18 stone burger boy roll out of an fd,when i looked through the window to see how the hell he fitted in he had a removable steering wheel, n standard seats, Just thought i pop this in this topic for the big boys thinking of changing seats so they can fit in,Change your wheel

Sparco Eco 2 will fit with seat modification, so I've moved it.
If you don't want them (and FX1) there, I guess you can move them back to 'do not fit'. Though I have the FX1 in my FD, and afgmoto1978 has Evo Sparco 2 in his FD.

 

anything will fit if you modify it enough........ i think the point of this thread was to give a list of seats that will fit without modification to the seat itself. but the OP can correct me if his idea was different

 

I would think a minor modification of a seat; one whereby the integrity of the seat was not compromised should be stated. Otherwise we will have very few seats in the list. My mod of the Cobra Imola II was the trim about 1/4 inch off the extreme extremity of the LHS shoulder wing. Mod took about 5 minutes .. more time spent to smooth cut that the cut itself. Mod is undetectable with seat cover in place, and as to seat safety .. wing was not really changed and door limits anyways.

 

what about the seats from a evo 7 -8 ? thought those fit very well for the price.

yeah I am mostly looking for ones that dont take a ton of modification. when I got the torino 2 and fighter I got the pair new from a shop wanting to get its name out there so the price was really cheap but the fighter rubber the door on the top and bottom and the tranny tunnel and the torino 2 rubbed along the door where the arm rest was.

I dont mean slight rubbing either I couldnt force the doors shut with the door panels on. if i removed the door panels i could shut them but still significant rubbing

 

also there are a few different versions of the zeta III we have the basic zeta III the sport the l type s type

do all seat sizes fit or does one have larger sholder bolsters more butt room something that would disqualify it.

I am modifying and fabricating alot of things in the car but seats to me are a safty issue so I am hoping to find something that is a drop in replacement without having to play with modfying the seat or brackets risking my self and passagers in the case of accident

, I think if you have to add "after you cut off the shoulder support" to a "will fit" seat that by default means it "doesn't fit" .

I think this list would be a lot more useful if there were 3 categories.

1) WILL FIT
2) WON'T FIT
3) WILL FIT AFTER MODIFICATION

for the 3rd category it would be nice to have it linked to a writeup of what needs to be modified to make it fit...

This thread has the potential to be very useful, but at it's current pace it's just going to be another thread where years down the road people are still asking "what do I have to do to make XXXXX seat fit" . Personally when I look at the "will fit" list right now it makes me wonder if the seats with no explanation next to them also need some modification to fit but the person who listed them just didn't take the time to mention it.

Now I would not call my 1/4" (max depth) by about 1.5" long slice a "cut off the shoulder support". Also, if I was to do it again .. i.e. build new base, I would have set seat off centerline of OE base by 3/8" or so towards ceter of car. I have a slight gap to center tunnel.

I agree with a three part list and some description of mod

 

Do you have any more details on this? I like Evo 8 Recaros a lot...
